ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Tony Fadell - Product creator
As the originator of the iPod, Tony Fadell is no stranger to disruptive technology. With Nest, he’s zeroed in on tech’s most elusive targets: household appliances.

Why you should listen

Tony Fadell became a tech superstar as a colleague of Steve Jobs and developer of the iPod, which rejuvenated Apple, rebooted entire industries and changed the way the world consumes entertainment.

After leaving Apple, Fadell founded Nest on a familiar experience -- frustration with household technology, still resolutely frozen in the 20th century. With its first products, Nest has brought the modern household one step closer to becoming a truly connected “smarthome.” In January 2014, Nest became Google’s second-biggest acquisition to date, positioning both companies to become revolutionary players in home technology.

John soruşur, "O qatar nə qədər
vaxtdan bir burdan keçir?"
00:40
Dan replies, "So often, you won't

9
28982

Dan cavab verir, "O qədər tez-tez ki,
heç bunu hiss də etməyəcəksən".
00:45
And then, something falls off the wall.
10
33542
2906
Və birdən divardan nəsə yerə düşür.
00:49
We all know what he's talking about.
11
37248
1794
Hamımız bilirik ki, o nədən danışır.
00:51
As human beings, we get used
to everyday things
12
39042
2841
İnsanoğlu olaraq gündəlik şeylərə
00:53
really fast.
13
41883
1197
çox sürətlə alışırıq.
00:55
As a product designer,
it's my job to see those everyday things,
14
43600
3384
Məhsul dizayneri olaraq bu gündəlik
şeyləri görmək, onları hiss etmək və
00:58
to feel them, and try
to improve upon them.
15
46984
3537
daha da inkişaf etdirməyə çalışmaq
mənim vəzifəmdi.
01:03
For example, see this piece of fruit?
16
51365
3496
Məsələn, bu meyvə dənəsini görürsüz?
01:08
See this little sticker?
17
56211
1600
Bu balaca etiketi görürsüz?
01:11
That sticker wasn't there
when I was a kid.
18
59211
2455
Mən uşaq olanda
o etiket orda deyildi.
01:14
But somewhere as the years passed,
19
62776
1918
Amma illər ötdükcə hardasa,
01:16
someone had the bright idea
to put that sticker on the fruit.
20
64694
2881
kiminsə o etiketi meyvənin üstünə
qoymaq fikri ağlına gəldi.
01:19
Why?
21
67575
717
Nə üçün?
01:20
So it could be easier for us
22
68292
1529
Beləcə ərzaq dükanındakı
kassada
01:21
to check out
at the grocery counter.
23
69821
1737
ödəniş etmək
bizimçün daha asan olar.
01:23
Well that's great,
24
71558
1093
Bu əladı, deməli
01:24
we can get in and out of
the store quickly.
25
72651
2055
mağazaya daha sürətlə
girib çıxa bilərik.
01:26
But now, there's a new problem.
26
74706
2078
Amma indi yeni bir
problem var.
01:29
When we get home and we're hungry
27
77414
2029
Evə çatanda və ac olanda
01:31
and we see this ripe, juicy piece
of fruit on the counter,
28
79443
3431
bu yetişmiş, şirəli meyvə
dənəsini görürük,
01:34
we just want to pick it up
and eat it.
29
82874
2845
bircə istəyirik ki,
onu götürək və yeyək.
01:37
Except now, we have to look
for this little sticker.
30
85719
3736
Amma ki indi, bu balaca etiketi
axtarmalıyıq.
01:42
And dig at it with our nails,
damaging the flesh.
31
90587
4374
Və dırnaqlarımızla bunu deşməliyik,
tamını, ləzzətini korlamalıyıq.
01:46
Then rolling up that sticker --
32
94962
1639
Sonra o etiketi yumurlamaq --
01:48
you know what I mean.
33
96601
1035
bilirsiz nəyi deyirəm.
01:49
And then trying to flick
it off your fingers.
34
97636
2139
Sonra da bunu barmaqlarından
atmağa çalışmaq.
01:51
(Applause)
35
99775
3361
(Alqış)
01:56
It's not fun,
36
104276
1500
Bu zarafat deyil,
01:57
not at all.
37
105776
1021
qətiyyən.
01:59
But something interesting happened.
38
107777
1905
Amma maraqlı nəsə baş verdi.
Görürsüz ilk dəfə bunu edəndə
siz də yəqin həmin şeyləri hiss etmişdiz.
02:01
See the first time you did it,
you probably felt those feelings.
39
109992
3081
02:05
You just wanted to eat the piece of fruit.
40
113075
2205
İstədiyiniz bircə meyvə
dənəsini yemək idi.
02:07
You felt upset.
41
115280
1007
Kefiniz korlandı.
02:08
You just wanted to dive in.
42
116287
1734
Yeməyə girişmək istəyirdiz bircə.
02:10
By the 10th time,
43
118541
1624
10-cu dəfə edəndə artıq
02:12
you started to become less upset
44
120165
2476
daha az dilxor olmağa başladız
02:14
and you just started peeling
the label off.
45
122641
3430
və sadəcə olaraq başladız
etiketi soymağa.
02:18
By the 100th time,
at least for me,
46
126071
2409
100-cü dəfədə,
ən azından mənimçün,
02:20
I became numb to it.
47
128480
1132
bunu
düşünmədən edirdim.
02:22
I simply picked up the piece of fruit,
48
130212
2891
Eləcə meyvə dənəsini götürdüm,
02:25
dug at it with my nails,
tried to flick it off,
49
133103
4112
etiketi dırnaqlarımla deşdim,
barmağımdan atmağa çalışdım,
02:29
and then wondered,
50
137215
1556
və sonra baxdım görüm,
02:30
"Was there another sticker?"
51
138771
3499
"Başqa bir etiket də varmı?"
02:35
So why is that?
52
143680
1294
Yaxşı, bəs nəyə görə?
02:36
Why do we get used to everyday things?
53
144974
2152
Nəyə görə gündəlik etdiyimiz
şeylərə alışırıq?
02:39
Well as human beings,
we have limited brain power.
54
147126
3148
Əslində insanoğlu olaraq
məhdud beyin gücümüz var.
02:42
And so our brains encode the
everyday things we do into habits
55
150274
4769
Və beynimiz gündəlik etdiyimiz şeyləri
vərdişlər halında şifrələyir,
02:47
so we can free up space
to learn new things.
56
155043
3577
beləcə də yeni şeylər öyrənmək üçün
yer boşaltmış oluruq beynimizdə.
02:50
It's a process called habituation
57
158620
2042
Bu alışqanlıq adlanan prosesdi
02:52
and it's one of the most basic ways,
as humans, we learn.
58
160662
3604
və bu insanlar olaraq bizim öyrəndiyimiz
ən əsas yollardan biridi.
02:57
Now, habituation isn't always bad.
59
165596
2169
Amma alışqanlıq da həmişə pis deyil.
03:00
Remember learning to drive?
60
168975
1636
Avtomobil sürməyi öyrənməyi xatırlayırsınız?
03:03
I sure do.
61
171101
1178
Mən əlbəttə xatırlayıram.
03:04
Your hands clenched at 10 and 2
on the wheel,
62
172939
3288
Əllərinizlə sükanı sağ və soldan
möhkəmcə sıxırsınız,
03:08
looking at every single
object out there --
63
176227
2218
bayırdakı hər şeyə bir-bir baxırsınız --
03:10
the cars, the lights, the pedestrians.
64
178445
3250
avtomobillər, işıqlar, piyadalar.
03:13
It's a nerve-wracking experience.
65
181695
2311
Adamı əsəbləşdirən təcrübə idi.
03:16
So much so, that I couldn't even
talk to anyone else in the car
66
184936
3584
Mən hətta maşındakı
heç kimlə danışa bilmirdim
03:20
and I couldn't even listen to music.
67
188520
1930
və mahnıya da qulaq asa bilmirdim.
03:22
But then something interesting happened.
68
190840
2109
Amma sonra maraqlı nəsə baş verdi.
03:24
As the weeks went by,
driving became easier and easier.
69
192949
4170
Həftələr ötüb keçdikcə
avtomobili idarə etmək daha da asan oldu.
03:30
You habituated it.
70
198339
1308
Öyrəşdin buna.
03:32
It started to become
fun and second nature.
71
200647
2267
Əyləncəli və qeyri-iradi olmağa başladı.
03:35
And then, you could talk
to your friends again
72
203324
2207
Ondan sonra yenə dostlarınla
danışa və musiqiyə
03:37
and listen to music.
73
205531
959
qulaq asa bilərsən.
03:38
So there's a good reason why
our brains habituate things.
74
206490
2699
Deməli beynimizin nələrəsə
alışmağının müsbət səbəbi var.
03:41
If we didn't, we'd notice
every little detail,
75
209189
3363
Belə olmasaydı hər kiçik
detala fikir verərdik
03:44
all the time.
76
212552
1615
həmişə.
03:46
It would be exhausting,
77
214717
1578
Yorucu olardı,
03:48
and we'd have no time
to learn about new things.
78
216295
2392
və yeni nələrsə öyrənməyə
vaxtımız olmazdı.
03:52
But sometimes,
habituation isn't good.
79
220317
3140
Amma bəzən də
alışqanlıq yaxşı olmur.
03:56
If it stops us from noticing
the problems that are around us,
80
224477
3335
Əgər bu ətrafımızdakı problemləri
görməkdən bizi saxlayırsa,
03:59
well, that's bad.
81
227812
1031
deməli pisdi.
04:01
And if it stops us from noticing
and fixing those problems,
82
229413
3403
Bu həmin problemləri görməkdən
və onları həll etməkdən bizi saxlayırsa,
04:04
well, then that's really bad.
83
232816
2117
deməli, həqiqətən də pisdi.
04:07
Comedians know all about this.
84
235923
1983
Yumor ustaları bu haqda hər şeyi
bilirlər.
04:09
Jerry Seinfeld's entire career was built
on noticing those little details,
85
237906
4885
Jerry Seinfeld'in bütöv karyerası bu kiçik
detalları görməyin üzərində qurulmuşdu,
04:14
those idiotic things we do every day
that we don't even remember.
86
242791
3978
o səfeh şeylər ki, hər gün edirik,
amma heç xatırlamırıq da.
04:20
He tells us about the time
he visited his friends
87
248238
2377
O bizə dostlarını ziyarət
etdiyi və
04:22
and he just wanted to take
a comfortable shower.
88
250615
2386
rahat bir duş almaq istədiyi
vaxtdan danışır.
04:25
He'd reach out and grab the handle
and turn it slightly one way,
89
253001
3897
Əlini uzadıb qulpu tutardı və
və bir istiqamətdə yüngülcə döndərərdi,
04:28
and it was 100 degrees too hot.
90
256900
2583
və 100 dərəcə çox istiyə keçərdi.
04:31
And then he'd turn it the other way,
and it was 100 degrees too cold.
91
259483
3932
Sonra o biri istiqamətdə döndərərdi,
onda da 100 dərəcə çox soyuq.
04:35
He just wanted a comfortable shower.
92
263415
2363
Rahat bir duş istəyirdi təkcə.
04:37
Now, we've all been there,
93
265778
2163
Biz hamımız eyni vəziyyətdə
olmuşuq,
04:39
we just don't remember it.
94
267941
1785
sadəcə xatırlamırıq.
04:41
But Jerry did,
95
269726
1322
Amma Jerry xatırladı,
04:43
and that's a comedian's job.
96
271048
2014
və bu da komediya ustasının işidir.
04:45
But designers, innovators
and entrepreneurs,
97
273062
3120
Amma dizaynerlər, yenilikçi
sahibkarlar kimi
04:48
it's our job to not just notice
those things,
98
276182
2407
bizim işimiz bu şeyləri
təkcə görmək yox,
04:50
but to go one step further
and try to fix them.
99
278589
2936
bir addım da qabağa gedib
onları düzəltməyə çalışmaqdı.
04:55
See this, this person,
100
283276
1566
Bunu, bu adamı görürsünüz,
04:56
this is Mary Anderson.
101
284842
1469
bu Mary Anderson'du.
04:58
In 1902 in New York City,
102
286581
2197
1902-ci ildə Nyu Yorkda idi,
05:00
she was visiting.
103
288778
1828
qonaq gedirdi.
05:03
It was a cold, wet, snowy day
and she was warm inside a streetcar.
104
291016
4818
Soyuq, rütubətli, qarlı gün idi,
tramvayın içində isə isti idi.
05:09
As she was going to her destination,
she noticed the driver opening the window
105
297226
5097
Mary yolda gedəndə sürücünün
avtomobili təhlükəsiz idarə etməsi üçün
05:14
to clean off the excess snow
so he could drive safely.
106
302323
4805
pəncərəni açıb artıq qarları
təmizlədiyini gördü.
05:20
When he opened the window, though,
he let all this cold, wet air inside,
107
308258
3576
Baxmayaraq ki, pəncərərəni açanda
bütün soyuq, yağıntılı hava içəri girir,
05:23
making all the passengers miserable.
108
311834
1945
bütün sərnişinləri yazıq halına salırdı.
05:27
Now probably, most of those
passengers just thought,
109
315189
2933
Yəqin bütün o sərnişinlərin tək
düşündükləri o idi ki,
05:30
"It's a fact of life, he's got
to open the window to clean it.
110
318122
3251
"Həyatın qanunu belədi, sürücü şüşəni
təmizləmək üçün onu açmalıdı.
05:33
That's just how it is."
111
321373
1393
Başqa yolu yoxdu".
05:35
But Mary didn't.
112
323176
1535
Amma Mary yox.
05:36
Mary thought,
113
324711
1299
O düşündü ki,
05:38
"What if the diver could actually clean
the windshield from the inside
114
326010
3834
"Bəs sürücü ön şüşəni içəridən
təmizləyə bilsəydi necə olardı?
05:41
so that he could stay safe and drive
115
329844
3278
Beləcə o da maşını təhlükəsiz
idarə edə bilərdi
05:45
and the passengers could
actually stay warm?"
116
333122
2941
və sərnişinlər də istidə qalardılar."
05:48
So she picked up her sketchbook
right then and there,
117
336603
2752
Mary o vaxtdan və ordaca öz çertyoj
kitabçasını götürdü
05:51
and began drawing what would become
the world's first windshield wiper.
118
339355
4361
və sonradan dünyanın ilk maşın ön
güzgü siləni olacaq şeyi cızmağa başladı.
05:56
Now as a product designer,
I try to learn from people like Mary
119
344924
4270
Məhsul dizayneri kimi mən də Mary kimi
insanlardan dünyanın
06:01
to try to see the world
the way it really is,
120
349198
2765
biz düşündüyümüz kimi yox,
həqiqətdə
06:03
not the way we think it is.
121
351973
2074
necə olduğunu
görməyi öyrənməyə çalışıram.
06:06
Why?
122
354587
947
Nə üçün?
06:07
Because it's easy to solve a problem
that almost everyone sees.
123
355534
3347
Çünki, demək olar hər kəsin gördüyü
problemi həll etmək asandı.
06:11
But it's hard to solve a problem
that almost no one sees.
124
359894
3780
Amma heç kimin görmədiyi
problemi həll etmək isə çətindi.
06:16
Now some people think
you're born with this ability
125
364441
2728
Bəzi adamlar düşünür ki,
sən bu bacarıqla doğulursan,
06:19
or you're not,
126
367169
1581
və ya yox,
06:20
as if Mary Anderson was hardwired at birth
to see the world more clearly.
127
368750
4943
sanki Mary Anderson dünyanı daha
aydın görə bilməyi irsən qəbul etmişdi.
06:26
That wasn't the case for me.
128
374883
1930
Amma məndə belə deyildi.
06:28
I had to work at it.
129
376813
1643
Bunun üzərində işləməli oldum.
06:31
During my years at Apple,
130
379766
2629
Apple'da olduğum illərdə
06:34
Steve Jobs challenged us
to come into work every day,
131
382395
4747
Steve Jobs bizi hər gün işə gəlməklə,
06:39
to see our products through
the eyes of the customer,
132
387142
3914
öz məhsullarımızı müştərilərin
gözü ilə görməklə sınağa çəkirdi.
06:43
the new customer,
133
391056
1447
Xüsusilə də qorxuları, alt-üst
06:44
the one that has fears
and possible frustrations
134
392503
3186
ola biləcək gözləntiləri olan,
06:47
and hopeful exhilaration that their
new technology product
135
395689
3141
yeni texnoloji məhsulun
ehtiyaclarına birbaşa cavab verəcəyinə
06:50
could work straightaway for them.
136
398830
2021
ümid bəsləyən müştərilər.
06:53
He called it staying beginners,
137
401471
2234
Steve bunu daimi şagird qalmaq
adlandırdı,
06:55
and wanted to make sure that we
focused on those tiny little details
138
403705
3982
və əmin olmaq istəyirdi ki, biz
o balaca detalların üzərində fokuslanmaqla
06:59
to make them faster, easier and seamless
for the new customers.
139
407687
4158
onları yeni müştərilər üçün
daha sürətli, asan və problemsiz edirik.
07:04
So I remember this clearly
in the very earliest days of the iPod.
140
412558
4247
Elə bunu iPod'un lap əvvəlki günlərindən
yaxşıca xatırlayıram.
07:09
See, back in the '90s,
141
417028
1670
90-cı illərdə,
07:10
being a gadget freak like I am,
142
418698
2429
cihazlarla çox maraqlanan biri olaraq
07:15
I would rush out to the store
for the very, very latest gadget.
143
423107
4895
ən son cihazlar üçün
cəld mağazaya qaçardım.
07:21
I'd take all the time to get to the store,
144
429291
2062
Mağazaya getmək üçün çox vaxt sərf
edərdim,
07:23
I'd check out, I'd come back home,
I'd start to unbox it.
145
431353
3611
cihazın pulunu verərdim, evə qayıdardım,
qutusundan çıxarmağa başlayardım.
07:26
And then, there was
another little sticker:
146
434964
3926
Və sonra, orda başqa bir balaca
etiket olardı,
07:30
the one that said, "Charge before use."
147
438890
3115
yazılmışdı ki, "İstifadədən öncə
enerjisini doldurun"
07:34
What!
148
442005
1548
Nə!
07:35
I can't believe it!
149
443553
1005
İnana bilmirəm!
07:36
I just spent all this time
buying this product
150
444558
2176
Bütün bu vaxtı bu məhsulu almağa
sərf elədim,
07:38
and now I have to charge before use.
151
446734
2034
indi də enerjisini doldurmalıyam.
07:40
I have to wait what felt like an eternity
to use that coveted new toy.
152
448768
4390
Hamının gözlədiyi bu yeni oyuncağı
istifadə etmək üçün yenə gözləməliyəm.
07:45
It was crazy.
153
453158
1692
Bu dəlilikdi.
07:46
But you know what?
154
454850
905
Amma bilirsiz nə?
07:47
Almost every product back then did that.
155
455755
2083
O vaxtlar demək olar hər
məhsul bunu edirdi.
07:49
When it had batteries in it,
156
457838
1775
Batareyaları içində olanda
07:51
you had to charge it
before you used it.
157
459613
2277
istifadədən qabaq enerjisini
doldurmalı idin.
07:54
Well, Steve noticed that
158
462690
2446
Amma Steve bunun fərqinə vardı
07:57
and he said,
159
465136
831
və dedi,
07:57
"We're not going to let that
happen to our product."
160
465967
2598
"Bizim məhsullarımızda bunun olmasına
izn verməyəciyik."
08:00
So what did we do?
161
468565
1848
Yaxşı, onda biz neylədik?
08:02
Typically, when you have a product
that has a hard drive in it,
162
470413
3086
Adətən, içində sərt disk olan
məhsulunuz varsa,
08:05
you run it for about
30 minutes in the factory
163
473499
2663
müştəri onu qutudan çıxarandan sonra
sərt diskin illərlə
08:08
to make sure that hard drive's going
to be working years later
164
476162
3149
işləyəcəyindən əmin olmaq üçün
hələ zavodda ikən
08:11
for the customer after they
pull it out of the box.
165
479311
3074
onu 30 dəqiqəlik çalışdırıb
yoxlayırsınız.
08:14
What did we do instead?
166
482385
3066
Əvəzində biz neylədik?
08:17
We ran that product for over two hours.
167
485451
2090
Biz həmin məhsulu 2 saatdan çox
işlətdik.
08:19
Why?
168
487541
1588
Niyə?
08:21
Well, first off, we could make
a higher quality product,
169
489129
3125
Birincisi daha yüksək keyfiyyətli
məhsul düzəldə bilərdik,
08:24
be easy to test,
170
492254
2150
yoxlanılması asan olan,
08:26
and make sure it was great
for the customer.
171
494404
2942
və alıcı üçün əla olduğundan
əmin olardıq.
08:29
But most importantly,
172
497906
1253
Amma ən vacibi
08:31
the battery came fully charged
right out of the box,
173
499159
3019
batareya qutudan tam enerji ilə dolu
vəziyyətdə gəldi,
08:34
ready to use.
174
502178
946
istifadəyə hazır.
08:35
So that customer,
with all that exhilaration,
175
503124
3832
Beləliklə, alıcı bütün o sevinc hissi
içində məhsulu eləcə
08:38
could just start using the product.
176
506956
1728
istifadə etməyə başlaya bilərdi.
08:40
It was great, and it worked.
177
508684
2390
Bu dahiyanə idi və alındı da.
08:43
People liked it.
178
511074
1264
İnsanlar bunu bəyəndilər.
08:44
Today, almost every product
that you get that's battery powered
179
512338
3107
İndi az qala aldığınız hər batareya
ilə işləyən məhsul
08:47
comes out of the box fully charged,
180
515445
2063
qutudan enerji ilə tam dolu
vəziyyətdə gəlir,
08:49
even if it doesn't have a hard drive.
181
517508
2053
hətta sərt diski olmasa belə.
08:52
But back then, we noticed
that detail and we fixed it,
182
520131
4774
Amma o zamanlar biz bu elementi gördük
və onu düzəltdik,
08:56
and now everyone else does that as well.
183
524905
2348
və indi isə hər kəs onu edir.
08:59
No more, "Charge before use."
184
527253
2641
Artıq "İstifadədən öncə enerji ilə
doldurun" yoxdu.
09:02
So why am I telling you this?
185
530644
2057
Yaxşı, bəs mən niyə bunu sizə deyirəm?
09:04
Well, it's seeing the invisible problem,
186
532701
2108
Bu görünməz problemi görməkdi,
09:06
not just the obvious problem,
that's important,
187
534809
4511
açıq-aşkar problemi də yox,
bu önəmlidi,
09:11
not just for product design,
but for everything we do.
188
539320
2840
tək məhsul dizaynı üçün də yox,
etdiyimiz hər şey üçün.
09:14
You see, there are invisible problems
all around us,
189
542682
3524
Görürsünüz, bütün ətrafımızda
həll edə biləcəyimiz
09:18
ones we can solve.
190
546206
2256
gözəgörünməz problemlər var.
09:20
But first we need
to see them, to feel them.
191
548462
3824
Gərək birinci onları görək, onları duyaq.
09:24
So, I'm hesitant to give you any tips
192
552996
1968
Tərəddüd içindəyəm sizə nevrologiya ya
09:26
about neuroscience or psychology.
193
554964
2731
psixologiya haqda tövsiyələr
verimmi deyə.
09:29
There's far too many experienced people
in the TED community
194
557695
2994
TED cəmiyyətində həddindən çox
təcrübəli insan var ki, bu sahədə
09:32
who would know much more
about that than I ever will.
195
560689
3394
mənim bilə biləcəyimdən daha çoxunu
bilərlər.
09:36
But let me leave you with
a few tips that I do,
196
564083
2627
Amma icazə verin sizə bildiyim bir neçə
məsləhəti verim,
09:38
that we all can do,
to fight habituation.
197
566710
3673
hamımızın bilə biləcəyi,
alışqanlıqlarla mübarizə aparmaq.
09:42
My first tip is to look broader.
198
570383
3394
Birinci məsləhətim daha geniş baxmaqdı.
09:45
You see, when you're tackling a problem,
199
573777
2112
Görürsüz, problemlə üzləşəndə, bəzən
09:47
sometimes, there are a lot of steps
that lead up to that problem.
200
575889
3392
həmin problemə aparan çoxlu
mərhələlər olur.
09:51
And sometimes, a lot
of steps after it.
201
579281
3070
Və bəzən də ondan sonra gələn
çoxlu mərhələlər.
09:54
If you can take a step back
and look broader,
202
582351
3349
Əgər bir addım geri ata bilib məsələyə
daha geniş baxa bilirsinizsə,
09:57
maybe you can change some of those boxes
203
585700
2271
bəlkə problemdən əvvəlki
o qutulardan bəzilərini
09:59
before the problem.
204
587971
1006
dəyişə bilərsiniz.
10:00
Maybe you can combine them.
205
588977
1360
Onları birləşdirə bilərsiniz.
10:02
Maybe you can remove them altogether
to make that better.
206
590337
3335
Bəlkə onların hamısını birlikdə aradan
qaldırmaqla daha yaxşı edə bilərsiniz.
10:06
Take thermostats, for instance.
207
594258
1991
Məsələn, termostatları götürək.
10:08
In the 1900s when they first came out,
they were really simple to use.
208
596249
3378
1900-cü illərdə ilk dəfə buraxılanda
onları istifadə etmək lap asan idi.
10:11
You could turn them up or turn them down.
209
599627
1952
Yuxarı və aşağı fırlada
bilirdin bircə.
10:13
People understood them.
210
601579
1700
İnsanlar başa düşmüşdülər.
10:16
But in the 1970s,
211
604019
1753
Amma 1970-ci illərdə
10:17
the energy crisis struck,
212
605772
2074
enerji böhranı vurdu hər yanı,
10:19
and customers started thinking about
how to save energy.
213
607846
3570
və alıcılar necə enerji qənaət etsinlər
deyə düşünməyə başladılar.
10:23
So what happened?
214
611416
1287
Yaxşı, nə baş verdi?
10:24
Thermostat designers decided
to add a new step.
215
612703
3028
Termostat dizaynerləri yeni pillə
əlavə etmək qərarına gəldilər.
10:27
Instead of just turning up and down,
216
615731
1850
Tək yuxarı və aşağı fırlatmaq əvəzinə
10:29
you now had to program it.
217
617581
1991
indi onu proqramlaşdırmalı idin.
10:31
So you could tell it the temperature
you wanted at a certain time.
218
619572
3218
Beləcə müəyyən vaxtda istədiyin
temperatura qura bilərdin.
10:34
Now that seemed great.
219
622790
1796
Dahiyanə göründü.
10:36
Every thermostat had
started adding that feature.
220
624586
3478
Hər termostata bu xüsusiyyəti
əlavə etməyə başlamışdılar.
10:40
But it turned out that no one
saved any energy.
221
628064
4276
Sonra amma belə anlaşıldı ki, heç kim
enerjiyə qənaət etməmişdi.
10:44
Now, why is that?
222
632340
1513
Yaxşı, bəs niyə?
10:45
Well, people couldn't predict the future.
223
633853
2735
İnsanlar gələcəyi proqnozlaşdıra
bilmədilər.
10:48
They just didn't know how their weeks
would change season to season,
224
636588
3548
Sadəcə bilmədilər ki,onların həftələri
fəsili fəsilə, ili ilə
10:52
year to year.
225
640136
1498
necə dəyişəcək.
10:54
So no one was saving energy,
226
642414
2331
Beləcə heç kim enerji qənaəti etmirdi,
10:56
and what happened?
227
644745
982
və nə baş verdi?
10:57
Thermostat designers went back
to the drawing board
228
645727
2623
Termostat dizaynerləri çetryoj lövhələrinə
geri göndülər
11:00
and they focused on that programming step.
229
648350
2042
və proqramlaşdırma hissəsinə
fokuslandılar.
11:02
They made better U.I.s,
230
650942
2467
Daha yaxşı istifadəçi interfeysi
qurdular,
11:05
they made better documentation.
231
653409
2166
daha yaxşı istifadəçi təlimatı
düzəltdilər.
11:07
But still, years later,
people were not saving any energy
232
655575
4730
Amma illər sonra yenə də insanlar
heç bir enerji qənaəti etmirdilər,
11:12
because they just couldn't
predict the future.
233
660305
2596
çünki gələcəyi proqnozlaşdıra bilmirdilər.
11:15
So what did we do?
234
663431
1478
Yaxşı, bəs biz neylədik?
11:16
We put a machine-learning algorithm in
instead of the programming
235
664909
4069
İçinə proqramlaşdırma əvəzinə mexanizmi
öyrənmə alqoritmi qoyduq,
11:20
that would simply watch
when you turned it up and down,
236
668978
2698
nə vaxt temperaturu yuxarı və aşağı
çevirməyinizi,
11:23
when you liked a certain temperature
when you got up,
237
671676
2594
ayağa qalxanda, ya harasa gedəndə
hansısa müəyyən
11:26
or when you went away.
238
674270
1707
temperaturu bəyənməyinizi izləyən bir alqoritm.
11:27
And you know what?
239
675977
1268
Və bilirsiz nə oldu?
11:29
It worked.
240
677245
927
Alındı.
11:30
People are saving energy
without any programming.
241
678422
3217
İnsanlar heç bir proqramlaşdırma olmadan
enerji qənaəti edirlər.
11:35
So, it doesn't matter what you're doing.
242
683239
2007
Ona görə fərqi yoxdu nə edirsiniz.
11:37
If you take a step back
and look at all the boxes,
243
685246
3266
Əgər bir addım geri atıb bütün qutulara
yenidən baxsaz,
11:40
maybe there's a way
to remove one or combine them
244
688512
3021
bəlkə orda birini arada qaldırmaq üçün yol
var, ya birləşdirməyə
11:43
so that you can make
that process much simpler.
245
691533
2514
beləcə həmin prosesi daha asan
edə bilərsən.
11:47
So that's my first tip: look broader.
246
695007
3077
Deməli belə,bu mənim birinci məsləhətimdi:
daha geniş baxın.
11:50
For my second tip, it's to look closer.
247
698084
3981
İkinci tövsiyəmə gəldikdə,
bu daha yaxından baxmaqdı.
11:54
One of my greatest teachers
was my grandfather.
248
702065
3031
Mənim ən böyük müəllimlərimdən biri
babam idi.
11:59
He taught me all about the world.
249
707006
1901
Dünya haqqında mənə hər şeyi o öyrətdi.
12:01
He taught me how things were built
and how they were repaired,
250
709557
3492
Mənə əşyaların necə qurulduğunu və
necə təmir olunduğunu,
12:05
the tools and techniques necessary
to make a successful project.
251
713049
3722
uğurlu layihə qurmaq üçün vacib olan
alətləri və metodları öyrətdi.
12:09
I remember one story
he told me about screws,
252
717671
4337
Mənə danışdığı boltlar
haqqında bir hekayəni xatırlayıram,
12:14
and about how you need to have
the right screw for the right job.
253
722048
3630
və düzgün iş üçün düzgün boltunuzun
necə olmalı olduğunu.
12:17
There are many different screws:
254
725678
1939
Müxtəlif cür boltlar var:
12:19
wood screws, metal screws,
anchors, concrete screws,
255
727617
4870
taxta boltu, metal boltu, anker boltu,
beton boltu,
12:24
the list went on and on.
256
732487
1745
siyahı uzanıb gedir.
12:27
Our job is to make products
that are easy to install
257
735212
3273
Bizim işimiz professionallar olmadan
bütün müştərilərin
12:30
for all of our customs themselves
without professionals.
258
738485
3734
özləri tərəfindən quraşdırılması
asan olan məhsullar istehsal etməkdi.
12:34
So what did we do?
259
742789
1421
Onda biz neylədik?
12:36
I remembered that story
that my grandfather told me,
260
744720
2935
Babamın mənə danışdığı bu hekayəni
xatırlayırdım,
12:39
and so we thought,
261
747655
1273
və biz düşündük ki,
12:40
"How many different screws
can we put in the box?
262
748928
2500
"Qutuya neçə dənə müxtəlif bolt
qoya bilərik?
12:43
Was it going to be two, three,
four, five?
263
751428
2850
İki dənəmi, üç, dörd, ya beş?
12:46
Because there's so many
different wall types."
264
754278
2296
Çünki müxtəlif cür divar növləri var."
12:48
So we thought about it, we optimized it,
265
756574
2730
Ona görə bu haqda düşündük,
ən uyğun hala gətirdik,
12:51
and we came up with three different
screws to put in the box.
266
759304
4091
və sonda üç müxtəlif boltu qutuya qoymaq
qərarına gəldik.
12:55
We thought that was going
to solve the problem.
267
763845
2277
Düşündük ki, bu problemi həll edəcək.
12:58
But it turned out, it didn't.
268
766122
2695
Amma sonra belə aydın oldu ki, alınmadı.
13:01
So we shipped the product,
269
769527
1631
Məhsulu yükləyib göndərdik,
13:03
and people weren't having
a great experience.
270
771158
2390
və insanlar elə də yaxşı
bəyənmirdilər.
13:06
So what did we do?
271
774128
1208
Bəs biz neylədik?
13:07
We went back to the drawing board
272
775336
1745
Düzgün etmədiyimizi başa düşən kimi
13:09
just instantly after we figured out
we didn't get it right.
273
777081
3464
dərhal çertyoj masamıza geri döndük.
13:12
And we designed a special screw,
a custom screw,
274
780545
3724
Və xüsusi bir bolt dizayn etdik,
özəl bir bolt,
13:16
much to the chagrin of our investors.
275
784269
2171
investorlarımızın xəyal qırıqlığına
qarşı.
13:18
They were like, "Why are you spending
so much time on a little screw?
276
786440
3422
Onlar "Balaca bir boltun üstündə
niyə bu qədər vaxt çox sərf edirsiz?"
13:21
Get out there and sell more!"
277
789862
1999
gedin və daha çox satın" deyirdilər.
13:23
And we said, "We will sell more
if we get this right."
278
791861
3323
Biz isə dedik ki, "Əgər bunu düzgün eləsək,
daha çox satacağıq"
13:27
And it turned out, we did.
279
795904
1690
Və elə gətirdi ki, bizdə alındı.
13:29
With that custom little screw,
there was just one screw in the box,
280
797594
3294
O xüsusi balaca boltla, qutuda divara
vurulması və quraşdırılması asan
13:32
that was easy to mount
and put on the wall.
281
800888
3107
olan bircə bolt var idi.
13:37
So if we focus on those tiny details,
the ones we may not see
282
805525
6100
Beləliklə, əgər görə bilmədiyimiz o kiçik
detalların üzərinə fikrimizi cəmləsək
13:44
and we look at them as we say,
283
812404
1824
və onlara baxıb desək ki,
13:46
"Are those important
284
814228
1408
"Onlar vacibdilərmi, yoxsa
13:47
or is that the way we've always done it?
285
815636
2800
elə həmişə etdiyimiz yoldu? Bəlkə də
onlardan
13:50
Maybe there's a way to get rid of those."
286
818436
2884
xilas olmağın bir yolu var"
13:54
So my last piece of advice
is to think younger.
287
822220
4619
Deməli mənim axırıncı məsləhətim
balacalar kimi düşünməkdi.
14:00
Every day, I'm confronted with interesting
questions from my three young kids.
288
828389
4156
Hər gün 3 balaca uşağımın məndən soruşduğu
maraqlı suallarla üzləşirəm.
14:04
They come up with questions like,
289
832545
1771
Onlar belə suallarla gəlirlər,
14:06
"Why can't cars fly around traffic?"
290
834316
2908
"Nəyə görə avtomobillər yollarda
uça bilmirlər?"
14:09
Or, "Why don't my shoelaces
have Velcro instead?"
291
837644
3776
Ya da, "Niyə mənim ayaqqabı iplərimin
yapışqanlı lentləri yoxdu?"
14:14
Sometimes, those questions are smart.
292
842490
1899
Bəzən ağıllı suallar da olur.
14:17
My son came to me the other day
and I asked him,
293
845409
2538
Bir başqa gün oğlum yanıma gəldi və
ondan xahiş
14:19
"Go run out to the mailbox
and check it."
294
847947
3176
etdim ki, "Qaçaraq poçt qutusuna get
və onu yoxla".
14:23
He looked at me, puzzled, and said,
295
851123
3768
Mənə baxdı, təəccübləndi və dedi,
14:27
"Why doesn't the mailbox just check itself
and tell us when it has mail?" (Laughter)
296
855311
4914
Niyə poçt qutusu elə özü özünü yoxlayıb
məktub olanda bizə demir ki?" (Gülüş)
14:32
I was like, "That's a pretty
good question."
297
860225
3653
"Doğrudan da
yaxşı sualdı" deyə elə qaldım.
14:36
So, they can ask tons of questions
298
864878
2614
Deməli,onlar çoxlu suallar verə bilərlər
və biz də arabir kəşf edirik ki, bizdə
sadəcə düzgün cavablar yoxdu.
14:39
and sometimes we find out
we just don't have the right answers.
299
867492
4718
14:44
We say, "Son, that's just the way
the world works."
300
872210
5807
Deyirik ki, "Oğul, bu elə dünyanın
işlədiyi tərzdi".
14:50
So the more we're exposed to something,
301
878017
2550
Bir şeyə daha çox məruz qaldıqca,
14:52
the more we get used to it.
302
880567
2197
daha da çox ona alışırıq.
14:54
But kids haven't been around
long enough
303
882764
2130
Amma uşaqlar həmin şeylərə öyrəşəcək
qədər
14:56
to get used to those things.
304
884894
1900
uzun müddət ətrafda olmayıblar.
14:58
And so when they run into problems,
305
886794
1817
Və problemlərlə üzləşəndə
15:00
they immediately try to solve them,
306
888611
2223
dərhal onları həll etməyə çalışırlar,
15:02
and sometimes they find a better way,
307
890834
2742
və bəzən daha yaxşı yol tapırlar,
15:05
and that way really is better.
308
893576
2704
və həmin yol həqiqətən də daha yaxşı olur.
15:08
So my advice that we take to heart
is to have young people on your team,
309
896280
5839
Beləliklə, bizimçün ciddiyə alacağımız
məsləhətim həmişə komandanızda cavanların
15:14
or people with young minds.
310
902119
2106
və ya cavan düşüncəlilərin olmasıdır.
15:16
Because if you have those young minds,
311
904225
2351
Çünki elə gənc düşüncəli adamlarınız
varsa
15:18
they cause everyone in the room
to think younger.
312
906576
3160
onlar otaqdakı hər kəsi gənc düşünməyə
vadar edirlər.
15:21
Picasso once said,
"Every child is an artist.
313
909736
4364
Picasso bir dəfə demişdi ki,
"Hər uşaq bir rəssamdı.
15:27
The problem is when he or she grows up,
is how to remain an artist."
314
915090
5316
Problem onun böyüyəndə necə rəssam
qalmasıdı".
15:33
We all saw the world more clearly
when we saw it for the first time,
315
921785
3949
Biz hamımız dünyanı ilk dəfə görəndə
daha aydın görmüşdük,
15:37
before a lifetime of habits
got in the way.
316
925734
2574
həyat boyu davam edəcək vərdişlər
hələ gəlməmişdən.
15:40
Our challenge is to get back there,
317
928998
2343
Bizim mübarizəmiz ora geri dönməkdi,
15:43
to feel that frustration,
318
931341
2245
o xəyal qırıqlığını hiss etmək,
15:45
to see those little details,
319
933586
2340
o balaca detalları görmək,
15:47
to look broader,
320
935926
1740
daha geniş görmək,
15:49
look closer,
321
937666
1756
daha yaxın baxmaq,
15:51
and to think younger
322
939422
1670
və daha gənc düşünmək,
15:53
so we can stay beginners.
323
941792
1918
beləcə öyrənən şagird kimi
qala bilərik.
15:56
It's not easy.
324
944150
1223
Asan deyil.
15:57
It requires us pushing back
325
945373
1535
Bu da bizdən dünyanı anladığımız
15:58
against one of the most basic ways
we make sense of the world.
326
946908
3201
ən təməl yollardan birinə qarşı
mübarizə aparmağımızı tələb edir.
16:03
But if we do,
327
951689
1043
Bacarsaq amma,
16:04
we could do some pretty amazing things.
328
952732
2511
xeyli heyrətamiz şeylər edə bilərik.
16:07
For me, hopefully, that's better
product design.
329
955243
2647
Mənimçün, ümid edirəm ki,
bu daha yaxşı məhsul dizaynı deməkdi.
16:10
For you, that could mean something else,
something powerful.
330
958940
4577
Sizinçün bu başqa bir şey deməkdi,
güclü bir şey.
16:18
Our challenge is to wake up
each day and say,
331
966105
3064
Bizim mübarizəmiz hər gün yuxudan durmaq
və deməkdi,
16:21
"How can I experience the world better?"
332
969169
3175
"Daha yaxşı necə yaşaya bilərəm?"
16:24
And if we do, maybe, just maybe,
333
972344
4849
Və əgər bacarsaq, bəlkə də, amma bəlkə də
16:29
we can get rid of these
dumb little stickers.
334
977193
4195
bu balaca axmaq etiketlərdən canımızı
qurtara bilərik.
16:34
Thank you very much.
335
982248
1549
Təşəkkürlər.
16:35
(Applause)
336
983797
2477
