ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Bjorn Lomborg - Global prioritizer
Danish political scientist Bjorn Lomborg heads the Copenhagen Consensus, which has prioritized the world's greatest problems -- global warming, world poverty, disease -- based on how effective our solutions might be. It's a thought-provoking, even provocative list.

Why you should listen

Bjorn Lomborg isn't afraid to voice an unpopular opinion. In 2007, he was named one of the 100 Most Influential People by Time magazine after the publication of his controversial book The Skeptical Environmentalist, which challenged widely held beliefs that the environment is getting worse. This year, he was named on of the "50 people who cold save the planet" by the Guardian newspaper. In 2007 he published Cool It: The Skeptical Environmentalist's Guide to Global Warming, further analyzes what today's science tells us about global warming and its risks. That same year, his next book Solutions for the World's Biggest Problems was released, which provided a summary of the greatest challenges facing humanity.

In 2004, he convened the Copenhagen Consensus, which tries to prioritize the world's greatest challenges based on the impact we can make, a sort of bang-for-the-buck breakdown for attacking problems such as global warming, world poverty and disease.

It begins from the premise that we can't solve every problem in the world, and asks: Which ones should we fix first?
The Copenhagen Consensus 2004 tapped the expertise of world-leading economists, as well as a diverse forum of young participants; collectively, they determined that control of HIV/AIDS was the best investment -- and mitigating global warming was the worst. Lomborg summarized these findings in How to Spend $50 Billion to Make the World a Better Place. In spring of 2008, Copenhagen Consensus convened again, assembling over 55 international economists, including 4 Nobel laureates, to assess, prioritize and brainstorm solutions for the major global challenges of today, including conflicts, malnutrition, health, education and terrorism. In 2013, he published How to Spend $75 Billion to Make the Wolrd a Better Place.

I'm just going to listlistă some of them.

00:59
The listsliste go on and on.
15
35000
2000
Şi lista merge mai departe.
01:01
There's two billionsmiliarde of people who will be severelystrict affectedafectat by climateclimat changeSchimbare -- so on.
16
37000
5000
01:06
There are manymulți, manymulți problemsProbleme out there.
17
42000
2000
Sunt multe, multe probleme în lume.
01:08
In an idealideal worldlume, we would solverezolva them all, but we don't.
18
44000
4000
01:12
We don't actuallyde fapt solverezolva all problemsProbleme.
19
48000
2000
Nu ne rezolvăm toate problemele.
01:14
And if we do not, the questionîntrebare I think we need to askcere ourselvesnoi insine --
20
50000
4000
01:18
and that's why it's on the economyeconomie sessionsesiune -- is to say,
21
54000
3000
01:21
if we don't do all things, we really have to startstart askingcer ourselvesnoi insine,
22
57000
3000
01:24
whichcare onescele should we solverezolva first?
23
60000
2000
01:26
And that's the questionîntrebare I'd like to askcere you.
24
62000
2000
01:28
If we had say, 50 billionmiliard dollarsdolari over the nextUrmător → fourpatru yearsani to spendpetrece
25
64000

01:53
encompassînconjura the biggestCea mai mare problemsProbleme in the worldlume.
34
89000
2000
cuprind cele mai mari probleme ale lumii.
01:55
The obviousevident questionîntrebare would be to askcere,
35
91000
2000
Întrebarea evidentă care se pune,
01:57
what do you think are the biggestCea mai mare things?
36
93000
2000
01:59
Where should we startstart on solvingrezolvarea these problemsProbleme?
37
95000
3000
Unde ar trebui să începem să rezolvăm aceste probleme?
02:02
But that's a wronggresit problemproblemă to askcere.
38
98000
2000
Dar asta e o întrebare greşită.
02:04
That was actuallyde fapt the problemproblemă that was askedîntrebă in DavosDavos in JanuaryIanuarie.
39
100000
3000
02:07
But of coursecurs, there's a problemproblemă in askingcer people to focusconcentra on problemsProbleme.
40
103000
3000
02:10
Because we can't solverezolva problemsProbleme.
41
106000
3000
Pentru că nu putem rezolva problemele.
02:13
SurelyCu siguranta the biggestCea mai mare problemproblemă we have in the worldlume is that we all diea muri.
42
109000
3000
02:16
But we don't have a technologytehnologie to solverezolva that, right?
43
112000
2000
02:18
So the pointpunct is not to prioritizeprioritiza problemsProbleme,
44
114000
3000
Deci ideea e nu să prioritizăm problemele,
02:21
but the pointpunct is to prioritizeprioritiza solutionssoluţii to problemsProbleme.
45
117000
4000
ideea e să prioritizăm soluţiile la probleme.
02:25
And that would be -- of coursecurs that getsdevine a little more complicatedcomplicat.
46
121000
3000
02:28
To climateclimat changeSchimbare that would be like KyotoKyoto.
47
124000
2000
02:30
To communicablecomunicabil diseasesboli, it mightar putea be healthsănătate clinicsclinici or mosquitoţânţar netsplase.
48
126000
3000
02:33
To conflictsconflicte, it would be U.N.'s„s peacekeepingde menținere a păcii forcesforţele, and so on.
49
129000
3000
02:36
The pointpunct that I would like to askcere you to try to do,
50
132000
5000
02:41
is just in 30 secondssecunde -- and I know this is in a sensesens
51
137000
3000
e ca în 30 de secunde -- şi ştiu că într-un fel asta e
02:44
an impossibleimposibil tasksarcină -- writescrie down what you think
52
140000
2000
o misiune imposibilă -- să scrieţi care credeţi
02:46
is probablyprobabil some of the toptop prioritiespriorități.
53
142000
2000
că sunt câteva dintre priorităţile de top.
02:48
And alsode asemenea -- and that's, of coursecurs, where economicseconomie getsdevine evilrău --
54
144000
3000
02:51
to put down what are the things we should not do, first.
55
147000
3000
02:54
What should be at the bottomfund of the listlistă?
56
150000
2000
02:56
Please, just take 30 secondssecunde, perhapspoate talk to your neighborvecin,
57
152000
3000

03:05
The amazinguimitor partparte of this processproces -- and of coursecurs, I mean,
61
161000
3000
Partea uimitoare a acestui proces -- şi desigur, adică,
03:08
I would love to -- I only have 18 minutesminute,
62
164000
2000
aş vrea -- am doar 18 minute,
03:10
I've alreadydeja givendat you quitedestul de a substantialsubstanțial amountCantitate of my time, right?
63
166000
2000
deja v-am oferit o parte substanţială a timpului meu, nu-i aşa?
03:12
I'd love to go into, and get you to think about this processproces,
64
168000
4000
03:16
and that's actuallyde fapt what we did.
65
172000
2000
şi exact asta am facut.
03:18
And I alsode asemenea stronglytare encouragea incuraja you,
66
174000
2000
Şi asta vă incurajez şi pe voi,
03:20
and I'm sure we'llbine alsode asemenea have these discussionsdiscuții afterwardsdupă aceea,
67
176000
2000
03:22
to think about, how do we actuallyde fapt prioritizeprioritiza?
68
178000
2000
să ne gândim, cum să prioritizăm?
03:24
Of coursecurs, you have to askcere yourselftu,
69
180000
2000
Desigur, trebuie să vă întrebaţi,
03:26
why on EarthPământ was suchastfel de a listlistă never doneTerminat before?
70
182000
2000
03:28
And one reasonmotiv is that prioritizationprioritizare is incrediblyincredibil uncomfortableincomod.
71
184000
5000
03:33
NobodyNimeni nu wants to do this.
72
189000
2000
Nimeni nu vrea să facă asta.
03:35
Of coursecurs, everyfiecare organizationorganizare would love to be on the toptop of suchastfel de a listlistă.
73
191000
3000
03:38
But everyfiecare organizationorganizare would alsode asemenea hateură to be not on the toptop of the listlistă.
74
194000
3000
03:41
And sincede cand there are manymulți more not-number-onenu-numărul unu spotspete on the listlistă
75
197000
4000
Şi cum sunt mai multe locuri-diferite-de-unu
03:45
than there is numbernumăr onescele, it makesmărci perfectperfect sensesens
76
201000
3000
decât unu pe listă, e clar
03:48
not to want to do suchastfel de a listlistă.
77
204000
2000
de ce nu se vrea o astfel de listă.
03:50
We'veNe-am had the U.N. for almostaproape 60 yearsani,
78
206000
2000
Naţiunile Unite există de aproape 60 de ani,
03:52
yetinca we'vene-am never actuallyde fapt madefăcut a fundamentalfundamental listlistă
79
208000
3000
03:55
of all the bigmare things that we can do in the worldlume,
80
211000
2000
03:57
and said, whichcare of them should we do first?
81
213000
3000
04:00
So it doesn't mean that we are not prioritizingStabilirea priorităților --
82
216000
3000
Asta nu înseamnă că nu prioritizăm --
04:03
any decisiondecizie is a prioritizationprioritizare, so of coursecurs we are still prioritizingStabilirea priorităților,
83
219000
4000
orice decizie e o prioritizare, deci desigur prioritizăm
04:07
if only implicitlyimplicit -- and that's unlikelyimprobabil to be as good
84
223000
3000
04:10
as if we actuallyde fapt did the prioritizationprioritizare,
85
226000
2000
cu faptul că am prioritiza pe bune,
04:12
and wenta mers in and talkeda vorbit about it.
86
228000
2000
şi am continua şi am vorbi despre asta.
04:14
So what I'm proposingpropunând is really to say that we have,
87
230000
2000
04:16
for a very long time, had a situationsituatie when we'vene-am had a menumeniul of choicesalegeri.
88
232000
4000
04:20
There are manymulți, manymulți things we can do out there,
89
236000
2000
04:22
but we'vene-am not had the pricesprețurile, nornici the sizesdimensiuni.
90
238000
3000
04:25
We have not had an ideaidee.
91
241000
2000
Nu am avut nici o idee.
04:27
ImagineImaginaţi-vă going into a restaurantrestaurant and gettingobtinerea this bigmare menumeniul cardcard,
92
243000
3000
04:30
but you have no ideaidee what the pricePreț is.
93
246000
2000
dar nu aveţi idee de preţuri.
04:32
You know, you have a pizzapizza; you've no ideaidee what the pricePreț is.
94
248000
2000
04:34
It could be at one dollardolar; it could be 1,000 dollarsdolari.
95
250000
2000
Poate fi un dolar, poate fi 1000.
04:36
It could be a family-sizemărimea familiei pizzapizza;
96
252000
2000
Poate fi o pizza extra large.
04:38
it could be a very individual-sizeindividuale-size pizzapizza, right?
97
254000
2000
Poate fi o pizza mică, nu-i aşa?
04:40
We'dNe-ar like to know these things.
98
256000
2000
Am vrea să ştim toate aceste lucruri.
04:42
And that is what the CopenhagenCopenhaga ConsensusConsens is really tryingîncercat to do --
99
258000
2000
04:44
to try to put pricesprețurile on these issuesprobleme.
100
260000
3000
incearcă să pună preţuri pe probleme.
04:47
And so basicallype scurt, this has been the CopenhagenCopenhaga Consensus'Consens' processproces.
101
263000
3000
04:50
We got 30 of the world'slume bestCel mai bun economistseconomiști, threeTrei in eachfiecare areazonă.
102
266000
4000
04:54
So we have threeTrei of world'slume toptop economistseconomiști writescrie about climateclimat changeSchimbare.
103
270000
3000
Deci avem 3 dintre cei mai buni economişti ai lumii care scriu despre modificările climatice.
04:57
What can we do? What will be the costa costat
104
273000
3000
Ce putem face? Care vor fi costurile?
05:00
and what will be the benefitbeneficiu of that?
105
276000
1000
Şi care va fi beneficiul?
05:01
LikewiseDe asemenea in communicablecomunicabil diseasesboli.
106
277000

La fel şi în cazul bolilor transmisibile.
05:03

107
279000
3000
05:06
What would be the pricePreț?
108
282000
1000
Care sunt costurile?
05:07
What should we do about it, and what will be the outcomerezultat?

Prefecţii Universităţii Cambridge au decis să-i numească

116

Real Madridul economiei.
05:27
That workslucrări very well in EuropeEuropa, but it doesn't really work over here.
117
303000
2000
05:29
And what they basicallype scurt did was come out with a prioritizedprioritizate listlistă.
118
305000
4000
05:33
And then you askcere, why economistseconomiști?
119
309000
2000
Şi vă întrebaţi, de ce economişti?
05:35
And of coursecurs, I'm very happyfericit you askedîntrebă that questionîntrebare -- (LaughterRâs) --
120
311000
2000
05:37
because that's a very good questionîntrebare.
121
313000
2000
pentru că e o întrebare foarte bună.
05:39
The pointpunct is, of coursecurs, if you want to know about malariamalarie,
122
315000
3000
Ideea e, desigur, că dacă vrei să ştii despre malarie,
05:42
you askcere a malariamalarie expertexpert.
123
318000
2000
întrebi un expert în malarie.
05:44
If you want to know about climateclimat, you askcere a climatologistclimatolog.
124
320000
2000
05:46
But if you want to know whichcare of the two you should dealafacere with first,
125
322000
3000
05:49
you can't askcere eitherfie of them, because that's not what they do.
126
325000
3000
05:52
That is what economistseconomiști do.
127
328000
2000
Economiştii se ocupă cu asta.
05:54
They prioritizeprioritiza.
128
330000
1000
Ei stabilesc priorităţile.
05:55
They make that in some waysmoduri disgustingdezgustător tasksarcină of sayingzicală, whichcare one should we do first,
129
331000

06:00
and whichcare one should we do afterwardsdupă aceea?
130
336000
2000
şi ce să facem după aceea?
06:02
So this is the listlistă, and this is the one I'd like to shareacțiune with you.
131
338000
3000
06:05
Of coursecurs, you can alsode asemenea see it on the websitewebsite,
132
341000
2000
Desigur, o puteţi vedea şi pe site,
06:07
and we'llbine alsode asemenea talk about it more, I'm sure, as the day goesmerge on.
133
343000
3000
06:10
They basicallype scurt camea venit up with a listlistă where they said
134
346000
2000
Ei au venit cu o listă în care au spus
06:12
there were badrău projectsproiecte -- basicallype scurt, projectsproiecte
135
348000
3000
că sunt proiecte rele -- adică proiecte
06:15
where if you investinvesti a dollardolar, you get lessMai puțin than a dollardolar back.
136
351000
3000

06:18
Then there's fairechitabil projectsproiecte, good projectsproiecte and very good projectsproiecte.
137
354000
4000
Apoi există proiecte echitabile, proiecte bune şi proiecte foarte bune.
06:22
And of coursecurs, it's the very good projectsproiecte we should startstart doing.
138
358000
2000
06:24
I'm going to go from backwardsînapoi
139
360000
2000
Voi începe de la sfârşit
06:26
so that we endSfârşit up with the bestCel mai bun projectsproiecte.
140
362000
2000
06:28
These were the badrău projectsproiecte.
141
364000
2000
Astea erau proiectele rele.
06:30
As you mightar putea see the bottomfund of the listlistă was climateclimat changeSchimbare.
142
366000
4000
06:34
This offendsofensează a lot of people, and that's probablyprobabil one of the things
143
370000
4000
Asta ofensează mulţi oameni, şi probabil că e unul dintre motivele
06:38
where people will say I shouldn'tnu ar trebui come back, eitherfie.
144
374000
2000
06:40
And I'd like to talk about that, because that's really curiouscurios.
145
376000
2000
06:42
Why is it it camea venit up?
146
378000
2000
De ce a apărut?
06:44
And I'll actuallyde fapt alsode asemenea try to get back to this
147
380000
2000
06:46
because it's probablyprobabil one of the things
148
382000
2000
pentru că probabil e unul dintre lucrurile
06:48
that we'llbine disagreedezacord with on the listlistă that you wrotea scris down.
149
384000
2000
cu care nu vom fi de acord în lista pe care aţi făcut-o.
06:50
The reasonmotiv why they camea venit up with sayingzicală that KyotoKyoto --

389000
2000
sau a face ceva în plus faţă de Kyoto - e o idee rea
06:55
is simplypur şi simplu because it's very inefficientineficace.
152
391000
2000
fiindcă de fapt e foarte ineficient.
06:57
It's not sayingzicală that globalglobal warmingîncălzire is not happeninglucru.
153
393000
2000
06:59
It's not sayingzicală that it's not a bigmare problemproblemă.
154
395000
2000
Nu spune că nu e o problemă mare.
07:01
But it's sayingzicală that what we can do about it
155
397000
2000
07:03
is very little, at a very highînalt costa costat.
156
399000
3000
07:06
What they basicallype scurt showspectacol us, the averagein medie of all macroeconomicmacroeconomice modelsmodele,
157
402000
4000
07:10
is that KyotoKyoto, if everyonetoata lumea agreedde acord, would costa costat about 150 billionmiliard dollarsdolari a yearan.
158
406000
5000
07:15
That's a substantialsubstanțial amountCantitate of moneybani.
159
411000

E o sumă substanţială de bani.
07:17
That's two to threeTrei timesori the globalglobal developmentdezvoltare aidajutor

161
415000
2000

07:21
YetÎncă it would do very little good.
162
417000
2000
Şi totuşi ar face foarte puţin bine.
07:23
All modelsmodele showspectacol it will postponeamâna warmingîncălzire for about sixşase yearsani in 2100.
163
419000
4000
07:27
So the guy in BangladeshBangladesh who getsdevine a floodpotop in 2100 can wait untilpana cand 2106.
164
423000

07:31
WhichCare is a little good, but not very much good.
165
427000
2000
07:33
So the ideaidee here really is to say, well, we'vene-am spenta petrecut a lot of moneybani doing a little good.
166
429000
5000
07:38
And just to give you a sensesens of referencereferinţă,
167
434000
2000
07:40
the U.N. actuallyde fapt estimateestima that for halfjumătate that amountCantitate,
168
436000

07:42
for about 75 billionmiliard dollarsdolari a yearan,
169
438000

07:44
we could solverezolva all majormajor basicde bază problemsProbleme in the worldlume.
170
440000

07:47
We could give cleancurat drinkingbăut waterapă, sanitationsalubritate, basicde bază healthcaresănătate

07:53
So we have to askcere ourselvesnoi insine, do we want to spendpetrece twicede două ori the amountCantitate
173

4000
Deci trebuie să ne întrebăm, dacă vrem să cheltuim dublul acestei sume
07:57

174
453000
1000
pentru a face foarte puţin bine?
07:58
Or halfjumătate the amountCantitate on doing an amazinguimitor amountCantitate of good?
175
454000
3000
08:01
And that is really why it becomesdevine a badrău projectproiect.
176
457000
3000
08:04
It's not to say that if we had all the moneybani in the worldlume, we wouldn'tnu ar fi want to do it.
177
460000
3000

But it's to say, when we don't, it's just simplypur şi simplu not our first priorityprioritate.

simplypur şi simplu because, yes, scalescară of basicde bază healthsănătate servicesServicii is a great thing.
181
474000
3000
08:21
It would do a lot of good, but it's alsode asemenea very, very costlycostisitor.
182
477000

3000
10:50
So basicallype scurt, what this focusesse concentrează on is sayingzicală, we can do a lot more
231
626000
4000
Prin urmare, putem face mult mai multe
10:54
by investinginvestiții in preventionprofilaxie.
232
630000
2000
investind în prevenire.
10:56
BasicallyPractic for the amountCantitate of moneybani that we spendpetrece,
233
632000
2000
10:58
we can do X amountCantitate of good in treatmenttratament,
234
634000
3000
putem face X bine în tratare,
11:01
and 10 timesori as much good in preventionprofilaxie.
235
637000
3000
11:04
So again, what we focusconcentra on is preventionprofilaxie rathermai degraba than treatmenttratament,
236
640000
3000
11:07
at first raterată.
237
643000
1000
în primul rând.
11:08
What this really does is that it makesmărci us think about our prioritiespriorități.
238
644000
4000
11:12
I'd like to have you look at your priorityprioritate listlistă and say,
239
648000
4000
11:16
did you get it right?
240
652000
2000
dacă aţi nimerit-o?
11:18
Or did you get closeînchide to what we camea venit up with here?
241
654000
2000
11:20
Well, of coursecurs, one of the things is climateclimat changeSchimbare again.
242
656000
4000
Ei bine, desigur, unul dintre lucruri e din nou schimbarea climei.
11:24
I find a lot of people find it very, very unlikelyimprobabil that we should do that.
243
660000
3000
11:27
We should alsode asemenea do climateclimat changeSchimbare,
244
663000
2000
11:29
if for no other reasonmotiv, simplypur şi simplu because it's suchastfel de a bigmare problemproblemă.
245
665000
3000
11:32
But of coursecurs, we don't do all problemsProbleme.
246
668000
3000
Dar desigur, nu rezolvăm toate problemele.
11:35
There are manymulți problemsProbleme out there in the worldlume.
247
671000
2000
Sunt multe probleme în lume.
11:37
And what I want to make sure of is, if we actuallyde fapt focusconcentra on problemsProbleme,
248
673000
4000
11:41
that we focusconcentra on the right onescele.
249
677000
2000
atunci ne concentrăm pe cele care trebuie.
11:43
The onescele where we can do a lot of good rathermai degraba than a little good.
250
679000
3000
11:46
And I think, actuallyde fapt -- ThomasThomas SchellingSchelling,
251
682000
3000
Şi cred că, de fapt -- Thomas Schelling,
11:49
one of the participantsparticipanți in the dreamvis teamechipă, he put it very, very well.
252
685000
4000
11:53
One of things that people forgeta uita, is that in 100 yearsani,
253
689000
3000
11:56
when we're talkingvorbind about mostcel mai of the climateclimat changeSchimbare impactsimpacturi will be,
254
692000
3000
11:59
people will be much, much richermai bogat.
255
695000
2000
oamenii vor fi mult, mult mai bogaţi.
12:01
Even the mostcel mai pessimisticpesimist impactefect scenariosscenarii of the U.N.
256
697000
4000
12:05
estimateestima that the averagein medie personpersoană in the developingîn curs de dezvoltare worldlume in 2100
257
701000
3000
12:08
will be about as richbogat as we are todayastăzi.
258
704000
2000
12:10
Much more likelyprobabil, they will be two to fourpatru timesori richermai bogat than we are.
259
706000
4000
12:14
And of coursecurs, we'llbine be even richermai bogat than that.
260
710000
2000
12:16
But the pointpunct is to say, when we talk about savingeconomisire people,
261
712000
4000
Dar ideea e, când vorbim despre salvat oameni,
12:20
or helpingajutor people in BangladeshBangladesh in 2100,
262
716000
3000
sau ajutat oameni din Bangladesh în anul 2100
12:23
we're not talkingvorbind about a poorsărac BangladeshiDin Bangladesh.
263
719000
2000
12:25
We're actuallyde fapt talkingvorbind about a fairlydestul de richbogat DutchOlandeză guy.
264
721000
2000
12:27
And so the realreal pointpunct, of coursecurs, is to say,
265
723000
2000
12:29
do we want to spendpetrece a lot of moneybani helpingajutor a little,
266
725000
4000
12:33
100 yearsani from now, a fairlydestul de richbogat DutchOlandeză guy?
267
729000
2000
12:35
Or do we want to help realreal poorsărac people, right now, in BangladeshBangladesh,
268
731000
5000
12:40
who really need the help, and whompe cine we can help very, very cheaplyieftin?
269
736000
3000
12:43
Or as SchellingSchelling put it, imagineimagina if you were a richbogat -- as you will be --
270
739000
5000
Sau, dupa cum a spus Schelling, imagineaza-ti că vei fi bogat -- pt. că vei fi --
12:48
a richbogat ChineseChineză, a richbogat BolivianBolivian, a richbogat CongoleseCongoleză, in 2100,
271
744000
5000
12:53
thinkinggândire back on 2005, and sayingzicală, "How oddciudat that they caredîngrijit so much
272
749000
6000
12:59
about helpingajutor me a little bitpic throughprin climateclimat changeSchimbare,
273
755000
4000
să mă ajute puţin cu schimbările climatice,
13:03
and caredîngrijit so fairlydestul de little about helpingajutor my grandfatherbunic
274
759000
4000
13:07
and my great grandfatherbunic, whompe cine they could have helpeda ajutat so much more,
275
763000
3000
13:10
and who neededNecesar the help so much more?"
276
766000
3000
13:13
So I think that really does tell us why it is
277
769000
3000
13:16
we need to get our prioritiespriorități straightdrept.
278
772000
2000
trebuie să ne ordonăm corect priorităţile.
13:18
Even if it doesn't accordacord to the typicaltipic way we see this problemproblemă.
279
774000
3000
13:21
Of coursecurs, that's mainlymai ales because climateclimat changeSchimbare has good picturespoze.
280
777000
5000
13:26
We have, you know, "The Day After TomorrowMaine" -- it looksarată great, right?
281
782000

It's a good filmfilm in the sensesens that

It just doesn't make for as much of a moviefilm.
286

13:42
So in manymulți waysmoduri, I think of the CopenhagenCopenhaga ConsensusConsens

13:53
It's not about makingluare things that have the mostcel mai mediamass-media attentionAtenţie,
291
809000

292
814000
3000
14:01
The other objectionsobiecții, I think, that are importantimportant to say,
293
817000
3000
Alta obiecţie, cred că e important să spun,
14:04
is that I'm somehowoarecum -- or we are somehowoarecum -- positingpostulind a falsefals choicealegere.
294
820000
4000
14:08
Of coursecurs, we should do all things,
295
824000
2000
Desigur, ar trebui să facem toate lucrurile,
14:10
in an idealideal worldlume -- I would certainlycu siguranță agreede acord.
296
826000
2000
într-o lume ideală -- sunt perfect de acord.
14:12
I think we should do all things, but we don't.
297
828000
2000
14:14
In 1970, the developeddezvoltat worldlume decideda decis we were going to spendpetrece

830000

In 1970, lumea dezvoltată stabilea că vom cheltui

SinceDeoarece then our aidajutor has halvedredus la jumătate.
300
840000

De atunci ajutorul nostru s-a înjumătăţit.
14:26
So it doesn't look like we're actuallyde fapt on the pathcale
301
842000
3000
Deci nu pare că suntem pe drumul
14:29
of suddenlybrusc solvingrezolvarea all bigmare problemsProbleme.
302
845000
2000
rezolvării subite a problemelor mari.
14:31
LikewiseDe asemenea, people are alsode asemenea sayingzicală, but what about the IraqIrak warrăzboi?
303
847000
3000
14:34
You know, we spendpetrece 100 billionmiliard dollarsdolari --
304
850000
2000
Ştiţi, cheltuim 100 de miliarde de dolari.
14:36
why don't we spendpetrece that on doing good in the worldlume?
305
852000
2000
14:38
I'm all for that.
306
854000
1000
Sunt întru totul pentru asta.
14:39
If any one of you guys can talk BushBush into doing that, that's fine.
307
855000
2000
14:41
But the pointpunct, of coursecurs, is still to say,
308
857000
2000
Dar ideea e în continuare,
14:43
if you get anothero alta 100 billionmiliard dollarsdolari,
309
859000
2000
dacă obţinem suplimentar 100 de miliarde de dolari,
14:45
we still want to spendpetrece that in the bestCel mai bun possibleposibil way, don't we?
310
861000
3000
14:48
So the realreal issueproblema here is to get ourselvesnoi insine back
311
864000
2000
Deci problema reală aici, e să ne aşezăm
14:50
and think about what are the right prioritiespriorități.
312
866000
2000
