So just by a show of hands, how many of you all have a robot at home?
0
564
5086
00:17
Not very many of you.
1
5650
1940
Jo shume prej jush.
00:19
Okay. And actually of those hands,
2
7590
1996
Mire. Nga ju qe ngritet duart,
00:21
if you don't include Roomba how many of you have a robot at home?
3
9586
3033
00:24
So a couple.
4
12619
1457
Pra, nja dy syresh.
00:26
That's okay.
5
14076
903
Mire.
00:26
That's the problem that we're trying to solve at Romotive --
6
14979
2475
00:29
that I and the other 20 nerds at Romotive are obsessed with solving.
7
17454
2871
00:32
So we really want to build a robot that anyone can use,
8
20325
4002
00:36
whether you're eight or 80.
9
24327
2252
qofshi tete ose 80 vjec.
00:38
And as it turns out, that's a really hard problem,
10
26579
2724
Dhe kjo me sa shohim, eshte nje goxha problem
00:41
because you have to build a small, portable robot
11
29303
2733
pasi te kerkohet te ndertosh nje rrobot te vogel, lehtesisht te transportueshem
00:44
that's not only really affordable,
12
32036
2376
qe jo vetem duhet te jete me kosto te ulet,
00:46
but it has to be something
13
34412
1541
por qe duhet te jete dicka
00:47
that people actually want to take home and have around their kids.
14
35953
3987
qe njerezit te mund ta marrin ne shtepite e tyre, tek femijet e tyre.
00:51
This robot can't be creepy or uncanny.
15
39940
3297
Ky robot nuk mund te jete as i frikshem dhe as i cuditshem.
00:55
He should be friendly and cute.
16
43237
2211
Ai duhet te jete miqesor dhe i lezetshem.
00:57
So meet Romo.
17
45448
2911
Ju prezantoj Romo.
01:00
Romo's a robot that uses a device you already know and love --
18
48359
3857
Romo eshte nje robot, i cili per tru perdor nje paisje qe ju tashme e njihni dhe e doni--
01:04
your iPhone -- as his brain.
19
52216
2849
IPhon-in tuaj.
01:07
And by leveraging the power of the iPhone's processor,
20
55065
4111
Duke vene ne perdorim fuqine e procesorit te IPhon-it,
01:11
we can create a robot that is wi-fi enabled
21
59176
4451
01:15
and computer vision-capable for 150 bucks,
22
63627
3684
dhe nje pamje prej kompjuteri per vetem 150 dollare,
01:19
which is about one percent of what these kinds of robots have cost in the past.
23
67311
4932
01:24
When Romo wakes up, he's in creature mode.
24
72243
3617
Kur Romo zgjohet, ai eshte ne fazen "krijese"
01:27
So he's actually using the video camera on the device to follow my face.
25
75860
5117
Me pak fjale, ai perdor video kameren e mekanizmit per te ndjekur fytyren time.
01:32
If I duck down, he'll follow me.
26
80977
1499
Nese une ulem poshte, ai do me ndjeke.
01:34
He's wary, so he'll keep his eyes on me.
27
82476
2326
Ai eshte i kujdesshem, dhe nuk do te mi shqise syte.
01:36
If I come over here, he'll turn to follow me.
28
84802
3276
Nese une shkoj ketej, ai do te kthehet e do te me ndjeke.
01:40
If I come over here -- (Laughs)
29
88078
4201
Nese vi ketu-- (Te qeshura)
01:44
He's smart.
30
92279
1383
Ai eshte mjaft i zgjuar.
01:45
And if I get too close to him,
31
93662
2214
Dhe nese i afrohem shume prane,
01:47
he gets scared just like any other creature.
32
95876
3133
ai trembet sikunder c'do krijese tjeter.
01:51
So in a lot of ways, Romo is like a pet that has a mind of his own.
33
99009
3450
Pra, ne shume tipare, Romo i perngjan nje kafshe shtepiake qe ben si do vete.
01:54
Thanks, little guy.
34
102459
1893
Faleminderit, djalosh.
01:56
(Sneezing sound)
35
104352
1382
(Teshtime)
01:57
Bless you.
36
105734
2091
Shendet.
01:59
And if I want to explore the world -- uh-oh, Romo's tired --
37
107825
4618
E nese une dua te eksploroj boten--uh-oh, Romo qenka i lodhur--
02:04
if I want to explore the world with Romo,
38
112443
2015
nese dua te eksploroj boten me Romon,
02:06
I can actually connect him from any other iOS device.
39
114458
2934
mund ta lidh me c'do lloj paisje tjeter iOS.
02:09
So here's the iPad.
40
117392
1560
Pra, ja ku e kemi IPad.
02:10
And Romo will actually stream video to this device.
41
118952
2741
02:13
So I can see everything that Romo sees,
42
121693
1633
Pra, mund te shoh gjithcka Romeo sheh,
02:15
and I get a robot's-eye-view of the world.
43
123326
2032
nje veshtrim me syte e nje roboti.
02:17
Now this is a free app on the App Store,
44
125358
1436
Kjo eshte nje aplikim qe mund ta gjeni falas ne dyqanin e aplikacioneve,
02:18
so if any of you guys had this app on your phones,
45
126794
1722
pra, nese ndonje nga ju e keni kete lloj aplikacioni ne celularet tuaj,
02:20
we could literally right now share control of the robot and play games together.
46
128516
3727
02:24
So I'll show you really quickly,
47
132243
1682
Lejomeni t'jua tregoj pak,
02:25
Romo actually -- he's streaming video,
48
133925
1846
Romo momentalisht--eshte duke shfaqur video,
02:27
so you can see me and the entire TED audience.
49
135771
2190
mund te me shohe mua dhe te gjithe audiencen e TED.
02:29
If I get in front of Romo here.
50
137961
1532
nese i dal Romos perpara.
02:31
And if I want to control him, I can just drive.
51
139493
3041
Dhe nese dua ta kontrolloj, thjesht mund ta leviz,
02:34
So I can drive him around,
52
142534
4452
Mund ta bej qe te levize perqark ,
02:38
and I can take pictures of you.
53
146986
1926
dhe mund t'ju bej fotografi.
02:40
I've always wanted a picture of a 1,500-person TED audience.
54
148912
2405
E kam dashur gjithnje nje fotografi te nje audience pres 1,500 vetash te TED.
02:43
So I'll snap a picture.
55
151317
1502
Po e bej kete fotografi tani.
02:44
And in the same way that you scroll through content on an iPad,
56
152819
2560
02:47
I can actually adjust the angle of the camera on the device.
57
155379
3590
mund ta ndryshoj kendin e kameras ne paisje.
02:50
So there are all of you through Romo's eyes.
58
158969
4731
Ja pra, ku jeni te gjithe nepermjet syve te Romos.
02:55
And finally, because Romo is an extension of me,
59
163700
3086
02:58
I can express myself through his emotions.
60
166786
2018
une mund te shprehem nepermjet emocioneve te tij.
03:00
So I can go in and I can say let's make Romo excited.
61
168804
5266
Mund ta provojme ta bejme Romon te entuziazmuar.
03:06
But the most important thing about Romo
62
174070
1383
Por gjeja me e rendesishme tek Romo
03:07
is that we wanted to create something that was literally completely intuitive.
63
175453
5090
03:12
You do not have to teach someone how to drive Romo.
64
180543
2584
03:15
In fact, who would like to drive a robot?
65
183127
2968
Kush do te kishte deshire te ngiste nje robot?
03:18
Okay. Awesome.
66
186095
2532
Mire. Fantastike.
03:20
Here you go.
67
188627
1634
Merreni.
03:22
Thank you, Scott.
68
190261
2854
Faleminderit, Scott.
03:25
And even cooler, you actually don't have to be
69
193115
2754
03:27
in the same geographic location as the robot to control him.
70
195869
4407
ne te njejten vendndodhje me robotin per ta kontrolluar ate.
03:32
So he actually streams two-way audio and video
71
200276
3285
Pra ai shfaq njekohesisht audio dhe video
03:35
between any two smart devices.
72
203561
1641
ndermjet dy paisjeve inteligjente.
03:37
So you can log in through the browser,
73
205202
1808
Pra, ju mund te aksesoni nepermjet shfletuesit,
03:39
and it's kind of like Skype on wheels.
74
207010
1484
03:40
So we were talking before about telepresence,
75
208494
1734
Me pare ishim duke folur per teleprezence,
03:42
and this is a really cool example.
76
210228
1432
dhe ky eshte nje shembull mjaft i mire.
03:43
You can imagine an eight-year-old girl, for example, who has an iPhone,
77
211660
4317
Imagjinoni nje vajze tete vjecare qe ka nje IPhone,
03:47
and her mom buys her a robot.
78
215977
1517
dhe te ciles mami i blen nje robot.
03:49
That girl can take her iPhone, put it on the robot,
79
217494
2901
Vajza, mund ta marre IPhon-in dhe ta vendosi mbi robot,
03:52
send an email to Grandma, who lives on the other side of the country.
80
220395
2629
dhe ti dergoj nje email gjyshes, e cila jeton ne anen tjeter te vendit.
03:55
Grandma can log into that robot and play hide-and-go-seek with her granddaughter
81
223024
3354
03:58
for fifteen minutes every single night,
82
226378
2324
per 15 minuta c'do nate,
04:00
when otherwise she might only be able to get to see her granddaughter once or twice a year.
83
228702
3311
nderkohe qe pa robotin mund ta shihte ate vetem nje ose dy here ne vit.
04:04
Thanks, Scott.
84
232013
1532
Faleminderit, Scott.
04:05
(Applause)
85
233545
5684
(Duartrokitje)
04:11
So those are a couple of the really cool things that Romo can do today.
86
239229
3347
Cfare ju treguam sot, ishin vec disa prej atyre cka Romo mund te bej.
04:14
But I just want to finish by talking about something that we're working on in the future.
87
242576
3960
Do te deshiroja ta mbyllja ligjerimin tim duke folur per ato cka jemi duke punuar per te ardhmen.
04:18
This is actually something that one of our engineers, Dom, built in a weekend.
88
246536
3525
Kjo eshte dicka qe inxhinjeri yne, Dom, ndertoi gjate nje fundjave.
04:22
It's built on top of a Google open framework called Blockly.
89
250061
3368
Eshte e ndertuar mbi nje strukture te hapur te Google, qe quhet Blocky.
04:25
This allows you to drag and drop these blocks of semantic code
90
253429
4096
Kjo lejon terheqjen dhe leshimin e ketyre blloqeve me kode semantike
04:29
and create any behavior for this robot you want.
91
257525
2179
dhe krijimin e c'do lloj sjellje qe mund te duash per robotin.
04:31
You do not have to know how to code to create a behavior for Romo.
92
259704
2781
04:34
And you can actually simulate that behavior in the browser,
93
262485
2860
Sjellja mund te simulohet ne shfletuesin,
04:37
which is what you see Romo doing on the left.
94
265345
1970
04:39
And then if you have something you like,
95
267315
1351
Dhe nese ke dicka te pelqen,
04:40
you can download it onto your robot and execute it in real life,
96
268666
3095
mund ta daunlodosh tek roboti yt dhe mund ta ekzekutosh ne kohe reale,
04:43
run the program in real life.
97
271761
1484
04:45
And then if you have something you're proud of,
98
273245
1707
Dhe nese keni dicka per te cilen jeni krenar,
04:46
you can share it with every other person who owns a robot in the world.
99
274952
3541
ju mund ta ndani me cilindo person ne bote, i cili ka nje robot.
04:50
So all of these wi-fi–enabled robots actually learn from each other.
100
278493
3126
Te gjithe keto robote mesojne nga njeri-tjetri.
04:53
The reason we're so focused on building robots that everyone can train
101
281619
4310
04:57
is that we think the most compelling use cases in personal robotics are personal.
102
285929
4589
05:02
They change from person to person.
103
290518
2606
Ato ndryshojne nga njeriu ne njeri.
05:05
So we think that if you're going to have a robot in your home,
104
293124
2416
05:07
that robot ought to be a manifestation of your own imagination.
105
295540
4151
05:11
So I wish that I could tell you what the future of personal robotics looks like.
106
299691
3852
Do desha te mund t'ju thoja sot se kush do eshte e ardhmja e robotikes personale.
05:15
To be honest, I have no idea.
107
303543
2484
Te jem i sinqerte, nuk e kam idene.
05:18
But what we do know is that it isn't 10 years or 10 billion dollars
108
306027
5103
Por ajo cka dime eshte se nuk jane as 10 vjet e as 10 bilione dollare
05:23
or a large humanoid robot away.
109
311130
3327
ose nje robot humanoid me prane.
05:26
The future of personal robotics is happening today,
110
314457
3001
E ardhmja e roboteve personal eshte SOT,
05:29
and it's going to depend on small, agile robots like Romo
111
317458
3583
05:33
and the creativity of people like yourselves.
112
321041
2995
dhe kreativiteti i njerezve si ju.
05:36
So we can't wait to get you all robots,
113
324036
2182
Thene kete, mezi presim t'ju pajisim te gjitheve me robot,
05:38
and we can't wait to see what you build.
114
326218
1728
05:39
Thank you.
