00:32
So we really want to build建立 a robot机器人 that anyone任何人 can use,
8
20325
4002
00:36
whether是否 you're eight or 80.
9
24327

00:38
And as it turns out, that's a really hard problem问题,
10
26579
2724
00:41
because you have to build建立 a small, portable手提 robot机器人
11
29303
2733
00:44
that's not only really affordable实惠,
12
32036
2376
00:46
but it has to be something
13
34412
1541
00:47
that people actually其实 want to take home and have around their kids孩子.
14
35953

01:24
When Romo罗莫 wakes醒来 up, he's in creature生物 mode模式.
24
72243
3617
01:27
So he's actually其实 using运用 the video视频 camera相机 on the device设备 to follow跟随 my face面对.
25
75860
5117
01:32
If I duck down, he'll地狱 follow跟随 me.

01:51
So in a lot of ways方法, Romo罗莫 is like a pet宠物 that has a mind心神 of his own拥有.
33
99009
3450
01:54
Thanks谢谢, little guy.

And if I want to explore探索 the world世界 -- uh-oh嗯,哦, Romo's罗莫的 tired --
37
107825
4618
02:04
if I want to explore探索 the world世界 with Romo罗莫,
38
112443
2015
02:06
I can actually其实 connect him from any other iOSiOS版 device设备.
39
114458
2934
02:09
So here's这里的 the iPadiPad的.
40
117392
1560
02:10
And Romo罗莫 will actually其实 stream video视频 to this device设备.
41
118952
2741
Romo
02:13
So I can see everything that Romo罗莫 sees看到,
42
121693
1633
02:15
and I get a robot's-eye-viewrobot's眼图 of the world世界.
43
123326
2032
02:17
Now this is a free自由 app应用 on the App应用 Store商店,
44
125358
1436
App,
02:18
so if any of you guys had this app应用 on your phones手机,
45
126794
1722
App
02:20
we could literally按照字面 right now share分享 control控制 of the robot机器人 and play games游戏 together一起.
46
128516
3727
02:24
So I'll show显示 you really quickly很快,
47
132243
1682
02:25
Romo罗莫 actually其实 -- he's streaming video视频,
48
133925
1846
Romo
02:27
so you can see me and the entire整个 TEDTED audience听众.
49
135771
2190
02:29
If I get in front面前 of Romo罗莫 here.
50
137961
1532
02:31
And if I want to control控制 him, I can just drive驾驶.
51
139493
3041
02:34
So I can drive驾驶 him around,
52
142534
4452
02:38
and I can take pictures图片 of you.
53
146986
1926
02:40
I've always wanted a picture图片 of a 1,500-person-人 TEDTED audience听众.
54
148912
2405
02:43
So I'll snap a picture图片.
55
151317
1502
02:44
And in the same相同 way that you scroll滚动 through通过 content内容 on an iPadiPad的,
56
152819
2560
02:47
I can actually其实 adjust调整 the angle角度 of the camera相机 on the device设备.
57
155379
3590
02:50
So there are all of you through通过 Romo's罗莫的 eyes眼睛.
58
158969
4731
02:55
And finally最后, because Romo罗莫 is an extension延期 of me,
59
163700
3086
02:58
I can express表现 myself through通过 his emotions情绪.
60
166786
2018
03:00
So I can go in and I can say let's make Romo罗莫 excited兴奋.
61
168804
5266
03:06
But the most important重要 thing about Romo罗莫
62
174070
1383
03:07
is that we wanted to create创建 something that was literally按照字面 completely全然 intuitive直观的.
63
175453
5090
03:12
You do not have to teach someone有人 how to drive驾驶 Romo罗莫.
64
180543
2584
03:15
In fact事实, who would like to drive驾驶 a robot机器人?
65
183127
2968
03:18
Okay. Awesome
66
186095
2532
03:20
Here you go.
67
188627
1634
给你。
03:22
Thank you, Scott
68
190261
2854
谢谢,Scott。
03:25
And even cooler冷却器, you actually其实 don't have to be
69
193115
2754
03:27
in the same相同 geographic地理 location位置 as the robot机器人 to control控制 him.
70
195869
4407
03:32
So he actually其实 streams two-way双向 audio音频 and video视频
71
200276
3285
03:35
between之间 any two smart聪明 devices设备.
72
203561
1641
03:37
So you can log日志 in through通过 the browser浏览器,
73
205202
1808
Romo,
03:39
and it's kind of like SkypeSkype的 on wheels车轮.
74
207010
1484
03:40
So we were talking before about telepresence网真,
75
208494
1734
03:42
and this is a really cool example.
76
210228
1432
03:43
You can imagine想像 an eight-year-old八岁 girl女孩, for example, who has an iPhone苹果手机,
77
211660
4317
03:47
and her mom妈妈 buys购买 her a robot机器人.
78
215977
1517
03:49
That girl女孩 can take her iPhone苹果手机, put it on the robot机器人,
79
217494
2901
03:52
send发送 an email电子邮件 to Grandma奶奶, who lives生活 on the other side of the country国家.
80
220395
2629
03:55
Grandma奶奶 can log日志 into that robot机器人 and play hide-and-go-seek隐藏和去寻找 with her granddaughter孙女
81
223024
3354
03:58
for fifteen十五 minutes分钟 every一切 single night,
82
226378
2324
04:00
when otherwise除此以外 she might威力 only be able能够 to get to see her granddaughter孙女 once一旦 or twice两次 a year.
83
228702
3311
84
232013
1532
谢谢你,Scott。
04:05
(Applause
85
233545
5684
04:11
So those are a couple一对 of the really cool things that Romo罗莫 can do today今天.
86
239229
3347
04:14
But I just want to finish by talking about something that we're working加工 on in the future未来.
87
242576
3960
04:18
This is actually其实 something that one of our engineers工程师, Dom大教堂, built内置 in a weekend周末.
88
246536
3525
04:22
It's built内置 on top最佳 of a Google谷歌 open打开 framework骨架 called BlocklyBlockly.
89
250061
3368
04:25
This allows允许 you to drag拖动 and drop下降 these blocks of semantic语义 code
90
253429
4096
04:29
and create创建 any behavior行为 for this robot机器人 you want.
91
257525
2179
04:31
You do not have to know how to code to create创建 a behavior行为 for Romo罗莫.
92
259704
2781
04:34
And you can actually其实 simulate模拟 that behavior行为 in the browser浏览器,
93
262485
2860
04:37
which哪一个 is what you see Romo罗莫 doing on the left.
94
265345
1970
04:39
And then if you have something you like,
95
267315
1351
04:40
you can download下载 it onto your robot机器人 and execute执行 it in real真实 life,
96
268666
3095
04:43
run the program程序 in real真实 life.
97
271761
1484
04:45
And then if you have something you're proud骄傲 of,
98
273245
1707
04:46
you can share分享 it with every一切 other person who owns拥有 a robot机器人 in the world世界.
99
274952
3541
04:50
So all of these wi-fi无线上网enabled启用 robots机器人 actually其实 learn学习 from each other.
100
278493
3126
04:53
The reason原因 we're so focused重点 on building建造 robots机器人 that everyone大家 can train培养
101
281619
4310
04:57
is that we think the most compelling引人注目 use cases in personal个人 robotics机器人 are personal个人.
