ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Jessica Jackley - Microlender
Jessica Jackley is the co-founder of Kiva.org, an online community that helps individuals loan small amounts of money, called microloans, to entrepreneurs throughout the world.

Why you should listen

Seven years ago, Jessica Jackley heard a speech by Grameen Bank founder Muhammad Yunus, an economist from Bangladesh who had developed the idea of microcredit: loans offered to entrepreneurs too poor to qualify for traditional bank loans. She says, "I was so completely blown away by the idea that I quit my job, dropped everything and moved to East Africa to help." In late 2005 she co-founded Kiva.org with Matt Flannery.

Kiva uses a peer-to-peer model in which lenders sort through profiles of potential borrowers -- be they a farmer in Cambodia, a pharmacist in Sierra Leone, or a shopkeeper in Mongolia -- and make loans to those they find most appealing. The minimum loan is $25, and the interest rate is 0%. The repayment rate for loans is more than 98%, Jackley says, and since the group was founded almost 700,000 people have pledged $128 million in loans to more than 325,000 people. Jackley's latest project is ProFounder, a new platform that helps small businesses in the United States access startup funding through community investing.

And in general一般,
53
126000
2000
02:23
I got this sort分類 of idea理念
54
128000
2000

02:32
And after a while, I developed發達 what I think many許多 of us do,
58
137000
2000
02:34
is this predictable可預測 response響應,
59
139000
2000
02:36
where I started開始 to feel bad every一切 time I heard聽說 about them.
60
141000
3000
02:39
I started開始 to feel guilty有罪 for my own擁有 relative相對的 wealth財富,
61
144000

02:42
because I wasn't doing more, apparently顯然地, to make things better.
62
147000

02:45
And I even felt a sense of shame恥辱 because of that.
63
150000
3000
02:48
And so naturally自然,
64
153000
2000
02:50
I started開始 to distance距離 myself.
65
155000
2000
02:52
I stopped停止 listening to their stories故事
66
157000
2000
02:54
quite相當 as closely密切 as I had before.
67
159000
2000
02:56
And I stopped停止 expecting期待 things to really change更改.
68
161000
3000
02:59
Now I still gave -- on the outside it looked看著 like I was still quite相當 involved參與.
69
164000
3000
03:02
I gave of my time and my money,
70
167000
2000
03:04
I gave when solutions解決方案 were on sale拍賣.
71
169000
2000
03:06
The cost成本 of a cup杯子 of coffee咖啡 can save保存 a child's孩子的 life, right.
72
171000
2000
03:08
I mean who can argue爭論 with that?
73
173000
2000
03:10
I gave when I was cornered走投無路, when it was difficult to avoid避免
74
175000
3000
03:13
and I gave, in general一般, when the negative emotions情緒 built內置 up enough足夠

3000
03:16
that I gave to relieve緩解 my own擁有 suffering痛苦,

2000
03:18
not someone有人 else's別人的.

2000
03:20
The truth真相 be told, I was giving out of that place地點,
78
185000
3000
03:23
not out of a genuine真正 place地點 of hope希望
79
188000
3000
03:26
and excitement激動 to help and of generosity慷慨.
80
191000
2000
03:28
It became成為 a transaction交易 for me,
81
193000
2000
03:30
became成為 sort分類 of a trade貿易.
82
195000
2000
03:32
I was purchasing購買 something --
83
197000

03:34
I was buying購買 my right to go on with my day

and not necessarily一定 be bothered困擾 by this bad news新聞.
85
202000
3000
03:40
And I think the way that we go through通過 that sometimes有時
86
205000
3000
03:43
can, first of all,
87
208000
2000
03:45
disembodydisembody a group of people, individuals個人 out there in the world世界.
88
210000
3000
03:48
And it can also turn into a commodity商品,
89
213000
2000
03:50
which哪一個 is a very scary害怕 thing.
90
215000
2000
03:52
So as I did this, and as I think many許多 of us do this,
91
217000
3000
03:55
we kind of buy購買 our distance距離,
92
220000
2000
03:57
we kind of buy購買 our right to go on with our day.
93
222000

03:59
I think that exchange交換 can actually其實 get in the way of the very thing that we want most.
94
224000
3000
04:02
It can get in the way of our desire慾望
95
227000
2000
04:04
to really be meaningful富有意義的 and useful有用 in another另一個 person's人的 life

229000
3000

Now, when I heard聽說 him speak說話, it was exciting扣人心弦 for a number of reasons原因.
117
278000
3000
04:56
First and foremost最重要的是, I learned學到了 about this new method方法 of change更改 in the world世界
118
281000
3000
04:59
that, for once一旦, showed顯示 me, maybe,

05:03
and to give, to share分享 of a resource資源 in a way that wasn't weird奇怪的
121
288000
2000
05:05
and didn't make me feel bad --
122
290000
3000
05:08
that was exciting扣人心弦.
123
293000
2000
05:10
But more importantly重要的, he told stories故事 about the poor較差的
124
295000
3000
05:13
that were different不同 than any stories故事 I had heard聽說 before.
125
298000
2000
05:15
In fact事實, those individuals個人 he talked about who were poor較差的 was sort分類 of a side note注意.

336000
3000
05:54
So I spent花費 three months個月 in Kenya肯尼亞, Uganda烏干達 and Tanzania坦桑尼亞
141
339000
3000
05:57
interviewing面試 entrepreneurs企業家 that had received收到 100 dollars美元
142
342000
2000
05:59
to start開始 or grow增長 a business商業.
143
344000
2000
06:01
And in fact事實, through通過 those interactions互動,
144
346000
2000
06:03
for the first time, I was starting開始 to get to be friends朋友
145
348000
2000
06:05
with some of those people in that big amorphous非晶 group out there
146
350000
3000
06:08
that was supposed應該 to be far away.
147
353000
3000
06:11
I was starting開始 to be friends朋友 and get to know their personal個人 stories故事.
148
356000
3000
06:14
And over and over again,
149
359000
2000
06:16
as I interviewed採訪 them and spent花費 my days with them,
150
361000
2000
06:18
I did hear stories故事 of life change更改
151
363000
2000
06:20
and amazing驚人 little details細節 of change更改.
152
365000
2000
06:22
So I would hear from goat山羊 herders牧民
153
367000
2000
06:24
who had used that money that they had received收到 to buy購買 a few少數 more goats山羊.
154
369000
3000
06:27
Their business商業 trajectory彈道 would change更改.
155
372000
2000
06:29
They would make a little bit more money;
156
374000
2000
06:31
their standard標準 of living活的
157
376000
2000
06:33
would shift轉移 and would get better.
158
378000
2000
06:35
And they would make really interesting有趣 little adjustments調整 in their lives生活,
159
380000
3000
06:38
like they would start開始 to send發送 their children孩子 to school學校.
160
383000
2000
06:40
They might威力 be able能夠 to buy購買 mosquito蚊子 nets.
161
385000
2000
06:42
Maybe they could afford給予 a lock for the door and feel secure安全.
162
387000
3000
06:45
Maybe it was just that they could put sugar in their tea
163
390000
2000
06:47
and offer提供 that to me when I came來了 as their guest客人
164
392000
2000
06:49
and that made製作 them feel proud驕傲.
165
394000
2000
06:51
But there were these beautiful美麗 details細節, even if I talked to 20 goat山羊 herders牧民 in a row,
166
396000
3000
06:54
and some days that's what happened發生 --
167
399000
2000
06:56
these beautiful美麗 details細節 of life change更改
168
401000
2000
06:58
that were meaningful富有意義的 to them.
169
403000
2000
07:00
That was another另一個 thing that really touched感動 me.
170
405000
2000
07:02
It was really humbling震撼人心 to see for the first time,
171
407000
2000
07:04
to really understand理解
172
409000
2000
07:06
that even if I could have taken採取 a magic魔法 wand棍棒 and fixed固定 everything,
173
411000
3000
07:09
I probably大概 would have gotten得到 a lot wrong錯誤.
174
414000
2000
07:11
Because the best最好 way for people to change更改 their lives生活
175
416000
3000
07:14
is for them to have control控制 and to do that in a way that they believe is best最好 for them.
176
419000
3000
07:17
So I saw that and it was very humbling
07:20
Anyway無論如何, another另一個 interesting有趣 thing happened發生 while I was there.
178
425000
3000
07:23
I never once一旦 was asked for a donation捐款,
179
428000
3000
07:26
which哪一個 had kind of been my mode模式, right.
180
431000
2000
07:28
There's poverty貧窮, you give money to help --
181
433000
2000
07:30
no one asked me for a donation捐款.
182
435000
2000
07:32
In fact事實, no one wanted me to feel bad for them at all.
183
437000
3000
07:35
If anything, they just wanted to be able能夠 to do more of what they were doing already已經
184
440000
2000
07:37
and to build建立 on their own擁有 capabilities功能.
185
442000
2000
07:39
So what I did hear, once一旦 in a while,
186
444000
2000
07:41
was that people wanted a loan貸款 --
187
446000
2000
07:43
I thought that sounded滿面 very reasonable合理 and really exciting扣人心弦.
188
448000
3000
07:46
And by the way, I was a philosophy哲學 and poetry詩歌 major重大的 in school學校,
189
451000
3000
07:49
so I didn't know the difference區別 between之間 profit利潤 and revenue收入 when I went to East Africa非洲.
190
454000
3000
07:52
I just got this impression印象 that the money would work.
191
457000
3000
07:55
And my introduction介紹 to business商業
192
460000
2000
07:57
was in these $100 little infuses炒熱 of capital首都.
193
462000
3000
08:00
And I learned學到了 about profit利潤 and revenue收入, about leverage槓桿作用, all sorts排序 of things,
194
465000
3000
08:03
from farmers農民, from seamstresses裁縫, from goat山羊 herders牧民.
195
468000
3000
08:06
So this idea理念
196
471000
2000
08:08
that these new stories故事 of business商業 and hope希望
197
473000
3000
08:11
might威力 be shared共享 with my friends朋友 and family家庭,
198
476000
2000
08:13
and through通過 that, maybe we could get some of the money that they needed需要
199
478000
3000
08:17
to be able能夠 to continue繼續 their businesses企業 as loans貸款,
200
482000
3000
08:20
that's this little idea理念 that turned轉身 into Kiva基瓦.
201
485000
2000
Kiva
08:22
A few少數 months個月 later後來, I went back to Uganda烏干達
202
487000
2000
08:24
with a digital數字 camera相機 and a basic基本 website網站
203
489000
3000
08:27
that my partner夥伴, Matthew馬修, and I had kind of built內置,
204
492000
2000
08:29
and took pictures圖片 of seven of my new friends朋友,
205
494000
3000
08:32
posted發布 their stories故事, these stories故事 of entrepreneurship創業, up on the website網站,
206
497000
4000
08:36
spammed垃圾郵件 friends朋友 and family家庭 and said, "We think this is legal法律.
207
501000
2000
08:38
Haven't沒有 heard聽說 back yet然而 from SECSEC on all the details細節,
208
503000
3000
08:41
but do you say, do you want to help participate參加 in this,
209
506000
2000
08:43
provide提供 the money that they need?"
210
508000
2000
08:45
The money came來了 in basically基本上 overnight過夜.
211
510000
2000
08:47
We sent發送 it over to Uganda烏干達.
212
512000
2000
08:49
And over the next下一個 six months個月, a beautiful美麗 thing happened發生;
213
514000
2000
08:51
the entrepreneurs企業家 received收到 the money,
214
516000
2000
08:53
they were paid支付, and their businesses企業, in fact事實, grew成長,
215
518000
3000
08:56
and they were able能夠 to support支持 themselves他們自己
216
521000
2000
08:58
and change更改 the trajectory彈道 of their lives生活.
217
523000
2000
09:01
In October十月 of '05,
218
526000
2000
09:03
after those first seven loans貸款 were paid支付,
219
528000
2000
09:05
Matt馬特 and I took the word beta公測 off of the site現場.
220
530000
2000
09:07
We said, "Our little experiment實驗 has been a success成功.
221
532000
2000
09:09
Let's start開始 for real真實." That was our official官方 launch發射.
222
534000
3000
09:12
And then that first year, October十月 '05 through通過 '06,
223
537000
2000
09:14
Kiva基瓦 facilitated促進 $500,000 in loans貸款.
224
539000
3000
Kiva
09:17
The second第二 year, it was a total of 15 million百萬.
225
542000
3000
09:20
The third第三 year, the total was up to around 40.
226
545000
2000
09:22
The fourth第四 year, we were just short of 100.
227
547000
2000
09:24
And today今天, less than five years年份 in,
228
549000
2000
09:26
Kiva'sKiva的 facilitated促進
229
551000
2000
Kiva共借出
09:28
more than 150 million百萬 dollars美元, in little 25-dollar-美元 bits,
230
553000
3000
09:31
from lenders貸款人 and entrepreneurs企業家 --
231
556000
2000
09:33
more than a million百萬 of those, collectively in 200 countries國家.
232
558000
2000
09:35
So that's where Kiva基瓦 is today今天, just to bring帶來 you right up to the present當下.
233
560000
3000
09:38
And while those numbers數字 and those statistics統計
234
563000
2000
09:40
are really fun開玩笑 to talk about and they're interesting有趣,
235
565000
3000
09:43
to me, Kiva'sKiva的 really about stories故事.
236
568000
3000
09:46
It's about retelling複述
237
571000
2000
09:48
the story故事 of the poor較差的,
238
573000
2000
09:50
and it's about giving ourselves我們自己
239
575000
2000
09:52
an opportunity機會 to engage從事
240
577000
2000
09:54
that validates只會驗證 their dignity尊嚴,
241
579000
2000
09:58
not a relationship關係 that's based基於
243
583000
2000
10:00
on the traditional傳統 sort分類 of donor捐贈者 beneficiary受益人
244
585000
3000
10:03
weirdness怪事 that can happen發生.
245
588000
2000
10:05
But instead代替 a relationship關係 that can promote促進 respect尊重
246
590000
3000
10:08
and hope希望
247
593000
2000
希望、
10:10
and this optimism樂觀
248
595000
2000
10:12
that together一起 we can move移動 forward前鋒.
249
597000
3000
10:15
So what I hope希望 is that,
250
600000
2000
10:17
not only can the money keep flowing流動 forth向前 through通過 Kiva基瓦 --
251
602000
2000
10:19
that's a very positive and meaningful富有意義的 thing --
252
604000
2000
10:21
but I hope希望 Kiva基瓦 can blur模糊 those lines, like I said,
253
606000
2000
10:23
between之間 the traditional傳統 rich豐富 and poor較差的 categories類別
254
608000
2000
10:25
that we're taught to see in the world世界,
255
610000
2000
10:27
this false dichotomy二分法 of us and them, have and have not.
256
612000
3000
10:30
I hope希望 that Kiva基瓦 can blur模糊 those lines.
257
615000
2000
10:32
Because as that happens發生,
258
617000
2000
10:34
I think we can feel free自由 to interact相互作用
259
619000
2000
10:36
in a way that's more open打開, more just and more creative創作的,
260
621000
3000
10:39
to engage從事 with each other and to help each other.
261
624000
3000
10:42
Imagine想像 how you feel

11:46
by lending貸款 a little bit of money,
288
691000
2000
11:48
I think that can change更改 the way we believe in each other
289
693000
2000
11:50
and each other's其他 potential潛在.
290
695000
2000
11:52
Now for me, Kiva基瓦 is just the beginning開始.
291
697000
2000
11:54
And as I look forward前鋒 to what is next下一個,
292
699000
2000
11:56
it's been helpful有幫助 to reflect反映 on the things I've learned學到了 so far.
293
701000
3000
11:59
The first one is, as I mentioned提到, entrepreneurship創業 was a new idea理念 to me.
294
704000
3000
12:02
Kiva基瓦 borrowers借款人, as I interviewed採訪 them and got to know them over the last few少數 years年份,
295
707000
3000
12:05
have taught me what entrepreneurship創業 is.
296
710000
2000
12:07
And I think, at its core核心, it's deciding決定 that you want your life to be better.
297
712000
3000
12:10
You see an opportunity機會
298
715000
2000
12:12
and you decide決定 what you're going to do to try to seize搶占 that.
299
717000
2000
12:14
In short, it's deciding決定 that tomorrow明天 can better than today今天
300
719000
2000
12:16
and going after that.
301
721000
2000
12:18
Second第二 thing that I've learned學到了 is that loans貸款 are a very interesting有趣 tool工具 for connectivity連接.
302
723000
3000
12:21
So they're not a donation
303
726000
2000
12:23
Yeah, maybe it doesn't sound聲音 that much different不同.
304
728000
2000
12:25
But in fact事實, when you give something to someone有人
305
730000
2000
12:27
and they say, "Thanks謝謝," and let you know how things go,
306
732000
2000
12:29
that's one thing.
307
734000
2000
12:31
When you lend them money, and they slowly慢慢地 pay工資 you back over time,
308
736000
3000
12:34
you have this excuse藉口 to have an ongoing不斷的 dialogue對話.
309
739000
2000
12:36
This continued繼續 attention注意 -- this ongoing不斷的 attention注意 --
310
741000
2000
12:38
is a really big deal合同
311
743000
2000
12:40
to build建立 different不同 kinds of relationships關係 among其中 us.
312
745000
3000
12:43
And then third第三, from what I've heard聽說 from the entrepreneurs企業家 I've gotten得到 to know,
313
748000
3000
12:46
when all else其他 is equal等於,
314
751000
2000
12:48
given特定 the option選項 to have just money to do what you need to do,
315
753000
3000
12:51
or money plus the support支持 and encouragement鼓勵
316
756000
3000
12:54
of a global全球 community社區,
317
759000
2000
12:56
people choose選擇 the community社區 plus the money.
318
761000
2000
12:58
That's a much more meaningful富有意義的 combination組合, a more powerful強大 combination組合.
319
763000
3000
13:01
So with that in mind心神, this particular特定 incident事件
320
766000
2000
13:03
has led to the things that I'm working加工 on now.
321
768000
3000
13:06
I see entrepreneurs企業家 everywhere到處 now, now that I'm tuned調整 into this.
322
771000
2000
13:08
And one thing that I've seen看到
323
773000
2000
13:10
is there are a lot of supportive支持 communities社區 that already已經 exist存在 in the world世界.
324
775000
2000
13:12
With social社會 networks網絡,
325
777000
2000
13:14
it's an amazing驚人 way, growing生長 the number of people that we all have around us
326
779000
3000
13:17
in our own擁有 supportive支持 communities社區, rapidly急速.
327
782000
3000
13:20
And so, as I have been thinking思維 about this,
328
785000
2000
13:22
I've been wondering想知道: how can we engage從事 these supportive支持 communities社區
329
787000
3000
13:25
to catalyze催化 even more entrepreneurial創業 ideas思路
330
790000
2000
13:27
and to catalyze催化 all of us
331
792000
2000
13:29
to make tomorrow明天 better than today今天?
332
794000
3000
13:32
As I've researched研究 what's going on in the United聯合的 States狀態,
333
797000
2000
13:34
a few少數 interesting有趣 little insights見解 have come up.
334
799000
2000
13:36
So one is that, of course課程, as we all might威力 expect期望,
335
801000
3000
13:39
many許多 small businesses企業 in the U.S. and all over the world世界
336
804000
2000
13:41
still need money to grow增長 and to do more of what they want to do
337
806000
3000
13:44
or they might威力 need money during a hard month.
338
809000
2000
13:46
But there's always a need for resources資源 close by.
339
811000
3000
13:49
Another另一個 thing is, it turns out,
340
814000
2000
13:51
those resources資源 don't usually平時 come from the places地方 you might威力 expect期望 --
341
816000
3000
13:56
other organizations組織 and support支持 structures結構 --
343
821000
2000
13:58
they come from friends朋友 and family家庭.
344
823000
2000
14:00
Some statistics統計 say 85 percent百分 or more of funding資金 for small businesses企業
345
825000
2000
14:02
comes from friends朋友 and family家庭.
346
827000
2000
14:04
That's around 130 billion十億 dollars美元 a year --
347
829000
2000
14:06
it's a lot.
348
831000
2000
14:08
And third第三, so as people are doing this friends朋友 and family家庭 fundraising籌款 process處理,
349
833000
3000
14:11
it's very awkward尷尬, people don't know exactly究竟 what to ask for,
350
836000
2000
14:13
how to ask, what to promise諾言 in return返回,
351
838000
2000
14:15
even though雖然 they have the best最好 of intentions意圖
352
840000
2000
14:17
and want to thank those people that are supporting支持 them.
353
842000
3000
14:20
So to harness馬俱 the power功率 of these supportive支持 communities社區 in a new way
354
845000
3000
14:23
and to allow允許 entrepreneurs企業家 to decide決定 for themselves他們自己
355
848000
2000
14:25
exactly究竟 what that financial金融 exchange交換 should look like,
356
850000
2000
14:27
exactly究竟 what fits適合 them and the people around them,
357
852000
3000
14:30
this week actually其實,
358
855000
2000
14:32
we're quietly悄悄 doing a launch發射 of Profounder更深刻,
359
857000
2000
14:34
which哪一個 is a crowd人群 funding資金 platform平台 for small businesses企業 to raise提高 what they need
360
859000
3000
Profounder
14:37
through通過 investments投資 from their friends朋友 and family家庭.
361
862000
2000
14:39
And it's investments投資, not donations捐款, not loans貸款,
362
864000
2000
14:41
but investments投資 that have a dynamic動態 return返回.
363
866000
2000
14:43
So the mapping製圖 of participating參與 in the story故事,
364
868000
2000
14:45
it actually其實 flows流動 with the up and down.
365
870000
2000
14:47
So in short, it's a do-it-yourself自己做 tool工具
366
872000
3000
14:50
for small businesses企業 to raise提高 these funds資金.
367
875000
2000
14:52
And what you can do is go onto the site現場, create創建 a profile輪廓,

369
880000
2000
14:57
We make it really, really simple簡單 for me
370
882000
2000
14:59
as well as anyone任何人 else其他 who wants to use the site現場.
371
884000
2000
15:01
And we allow允許 entrepreneurs企業家 to share分享 a percentage百分比 of their revenues收入.
372
886000
2000
15:03
They can raise提高 up to a million百萬 dollars美元
373
888000
2000
15:05
from an unlimited無限 number of unaccredited未經認可的, unsophisticated淳樸 investors投資者 --
374
890000
3000
15:08
everyday每天 people, heaven天堂 forbid禁止 --
375
893000
2000
15:10
and they can share分享 those returns回報 over time --
376
895000
2000
15:12
again, whatever隨你 terms條款 they set.
377
897000
2000
15:14
As investors投資者 choose選擇 to become成為 involved參與
378
899000
2000
15:16
based基於 on those terms條款,
379
901000
2000
15:18
they can either take their rewards獎勵 back as cash現金,
380
903000
2000
15:20
or they can decide決定 in advance提前
381
905000
2000
15:22
to give those returns回報 away to a non-profit非盈利.
382
907000
2000
15:24
So they can be a cash現金, or a cause原因, investor投資者.
383
909000
3000
15:27
It's my hope希望 that this kind of tool工具 can show顯示 anybody任何人 who has an idea理念
384
912000
3000
15:30
a path路徑 to go do what they want to do in the world世界
385
915000
2000
15:32
and to gather收集 the people around them that they already已經 have,
386
917000
2000
15:34
the people that know them best最好
387
919000
2000
15:36
and that love them and want to support支持 them,
388
921000
2000
15:38
to gather收集 them to make this happen發生.
389
923000
2000
15:40
So that's what I'm working加工 on now.
390
925000
2000
15:42
And to close, I just want to say, look these are tools工具.
391
927000
2000
15:44
Right now, Profounder's更深刻的 right at the very beginning開始,
392
929000
2000
15:46
and it's very palpable明顯的; it's very clear明確 to me, that it's just a vessel船隻, it's just a tool工具.
393
931000
3000
15:49
What we need are for people to care關心, to actually其實 go use it,
394
934000
3000
15:52
just like they've他們已經 cared照顧 enough足夠 to use Kiva基瓦
395
937000
2000
Kiva
15:54
to make those connections連接.
396
939000
2000
15:56
But the good news新聞 is I don't think I need to stand here and convince說服 you to care關心 --
397
941000
2000
15:58
I'm not even going to try.
398
943000
2000
16:00
I don't think, even though雖然 we often經常 hear,
399
945000
2000
16:02
you know, hear the ethical合乎道德的 and moral道德 reasons原因,
400
947000
2000
16:04
the religious宗教 reasons原因,
401
949000
2000
16:06
"Here's這裡的 why caring愛心 and giving will make you happier幸福."
402
951000
3000
16:09
I don't think we need to be convinced相信 of that. I think we know;
403
954000
3000
16:12
in fact事實, I think we know so much,
404
957000
2000
16:14
and it's such這樣 a reality現實
405
959000
2000
16:16
that we care關心 so deeply,
406
961000
2000
16:18
that in fact事實, what usually平時 stops停止 us
407
963000
2000
16:20
is that we're afraid害怕 to try and to mess食堂 up,
408
965000
2000
16:22
because we care關心 so very much about helping幫助 each other
409
967000
2000
16:24
and being存在 meaningful富有意義的 in each other's其他 lives生活.
410
969000
3000
16:27
So what I think I can do today今天,
411
972000
3000
16:30
that best最好 thing I can give you --
412
975000
2000
16:32

16:34
And I think I can remind提醒 us that we do care關心.
414
979000
3000
16:37
I think we all already已經 know that.
415
982000
2000
16:39
And I think we know that love is resilient彈性 enough足夠
416
984000
3000
16:42
for us to get out there and try.
417
987000
2000

17:12
is to stop and to listen
425
1017000

And I believe more and more every一切 time I listen
431
1032000
3000
17:30
in that that person's人的 potential潛在 to do great things in the world世界
