the congregation was on its feet,

like a question mark
that my sin would burn
죄가 타 없어지길 바랬으며
to reintroduce me to sanctity,
to be anything I want.

what was left of my goal.
the other kids couldn't play,
게임의 승자였죠.
풀리지 않는 의문이었죠.
and apologetic girl,
사이에서 줄타기를 했어요.
wasn't deemed cute anymore.
더 이상은 귀엽지 않았어요.
seeing my knees in the shadow of skirts,
제 무릎을 그리워했고
would never bring a husband home,
만날 수 없을거라고 했어요.
and child-bearing.
출산을 하기위한 존재라고 했어요.
along with their slurs.

come out of the closet.
without my permission.

토론 수업을 두려워 해요.
more transgender children than parents.
성전환자 아이들을 포용하고 있어요.
start to feel redundant,
불필요하게 길다고 느낄 때가,
become lessons about sin

all this breath and mercy,

In his own poetry, Mokobe tackles tough social justice and LGBTQ issues.
