02:21
But by then I was fluenttekoče

40

A takrat sem že tekoče govorila špansko,
02:25
so it feltčutil as thoughčeprav I could be

45
146224
3560
da bom lahko pridobila
ali si zaslužila novo.
02:43
So when I was 18,
I decidedodločil to go to KoreaKoreja,
46
151255
4129
Ko sem bila torej stara 18 let,
sem se odločila oditi v Korejo
02:47
hopingv upanju that finallykončno I could find
a placemesto to call home.
47
155408
4054
v upanju, da bom končno našla
kraj, ki ga bom lahko imenovala dom.
02:51
But there people askedvprašal me,
48
159486
1997
A tam so me ljudje spraševali:
02:53
"Why do you speakgovoriti Koreankorejščina
with a Spanishšpanščina accentnaglas?"
49
161507
3396
"Zakaj govoriš korejsko
s španskim naglasom?
02:56
(LaughterSmeh)
50
164927
1024
(smeh)
02:57
And, "You mustmoraš be Japanesejaponščina

52
169494

in tujo telesno govorico."
03:04
And so it turnszavrti out that I was
too Koreankorejščina to be ArgentinianArgentinski,
53
172101
4823
Torej sem bila preveč korejska,
da bi bila Argentinka,
03:08
but too ArgentinianArgentinski to be Koreankorejščina.
54
176948
2130
a tudi preveč argentinska,
da bi bila Korejka.
03:11
And this was a pivotalosrednjo realizationrealizacija to me.
55
179970
3267
In to je bilo zame ključno spoznanje.
03:15
I had failedni uspelo to find that placemesto
in the worldsvet to call home.
56
183848
4749
Ni mi uspelo najti tistega kraja na svetu,
ki bi ga imenovala dom.
03:20
But how manyveliko Japanese-lookingJaponski videti KoreansKorejci
who speakgovoriti with a Spanishšpanščina accentnaglas --
57
188621
5520
A koliko Korejcev z japonskim izgledom,
ki govorijo s španskim naglasom,
03:26
or even more specificspecifično,
ArgentinianArgentinski accentnaglas --
58
194165
2999
ali celo bolj specifično -
z argentinskim naglasom -
03:29
do you think are out there?
59
197188
1657
pa mislite, da je na svetu?
03:31
PerhapsMorda this could be an advantageprednost.
60
199229
3025
Morda bi to lahko bila prednost.
03:34
It was easyenostavno for me to standstojalo out,
61
202777
2102
Z lahkoto sem izstopala,
03:36
whichki couldn'tni mogel hurtboli in a worldsvet

63
208255
3047
kjer lahko znanje čez noč

03:43
So I stoppedustavil looking
for that 100 percentodstotkov commonalityizenačevanja
64
211892
6174
Tako sem v ljudeh, ki sem jih
srečala, nehala iskati
03:50
with the people that I metsrečal.
65
218090
1496
stoodstotne podobnosti.
03:51
InsteadNamesto, I realizedrealiziran that oftentimesvelikokrat,
I was the only overlapprekrivajo
66
219610
6437
Namesto tega sem se zavedla,
da sem pogosto edini faktor sovpadanja

usuallyobičajno in conflictkonflikt with eachvsak other.
67
226071

v konfliktu drug z drugim.
04:03
So with this realizationrealizacija in mindum,
68
231130
2918
S tem zavedanjem v mislih
04:06
I decidedodločil to embraceObjemi all

70
238289

V srednji šoli sem na primer bila,
04:18
I have to confesspriznam I was a mega-nerdMega-nerd.

04:20
I had no sensesmisel of fashionmoda --

73
248724

04:24
