The reality is that most black people

53
175750
2125
03:11
We gave it everything that we had,
54
179833
3310
03:15
but in the end,
55
183167
1351
03:16
New York City decided to keep the statue,
56
184542
2559
03:19
and New York State unanimously voted
to make it a landmark.

57
187125

03:23
The news was devastating,
58
191125
2684
03:25
but it opened up another door.
59
193833
2018
03:27
We realized that with augmented reality
60
195875
2434
03:30
you don't need permission
from the government
from the government
61
198333
2310
03:32
to put up a monument
or to make a statement.
or to make a statement.
62
200667
3351
03:36
You can just do it.
63
204042
1809
03:37
So New York City right now
64
205875
1309
03:39
currently has more than 150 statues
of men and six of women
of men and six of women
65
207208
4435

03:43
and currently acknowledges slaveholders

66
211667
3434

03:47
So we decided, why not just put up
a bunch of AR monuments
a bunch of AR monuments
67
215125
2893
03:50
of women and people of color
throughout the city?
throughout the city?
68
218042
2291
03:53
Typically, monuments are created
69
221333
1976
03:55
to commemorate the achievements
of the deceased,
of the deceased,
70
223333
3351
03:58
but with augmented reality,
we can reroute the rules.
we can reroute the rules.
71
226708
3000
04:02
We started with sports.
72
230458
1976

04:11
to highlight the injustice
of systemic racism.

76
239083
2893
04:14
So he consulted a Green Beret

78
246000
3309
04:21
He lost his contract with the 49ers,
79
249333
2310
04:23
he was blackballed by every NFL owner,
80
251667
2767
04:26
he was criticized by millions
81
254458
2226
04:28
and even the president
of the United States
of the United States
82
256708
2059
04:30
decided to insult him.
83
258791
1768
04:32
It may be decades before Colin Kaepernick
is adequately respected for his courage,
is adequately respected for his courage,
84
260583
6643
04:39
so our team decided to do this.
85
267250
2042
04:42
Now anyone that walks by Trump Tower
can see Colin Kaepernick take a knee
