was in a glass-stained cathedral.
i en katedral med glasmalerier.
the congregation was on its feet,
at forsamlingen var på fødderne,
like a question mark
som et spørgsmålstegn
Jesus om at reperare mig
that my sin would burn
min synd ville brænde
to reintroduce me to sanctity,
at genindføre mig selv til hellighed
som jeg var,
to be anything I want.
hvad jeg ville.
what was left of my goal.
hvad der var tilbage af mit mål,
the other kids couldn't play,
som andre børn ikke kunne spille,
and apologetic girl,
og undskyldende pige,
wasn't deemed cute anymore.
var drengefasen ikke længere sødt.
seeing my knees in the shadow of skirts,
som savnede mine knæ i skyggen af skørter
would never bring a husband home,
at min attitude ikke ville skaffe en mand,
and child-bearing.
heteroseksuelt ægteskab og fødedygtighed.
along with their slurs.
sammen med deres nedværdigelser.
come out of the closet.
without my permission.
uden min tilladelse.
jeg ikke kunne genkende,
more Ken than Barbie.
mere Ken end Barbie.
at hade min krop.
to house all your insides,
at rumme alt det indre,
to invite guests over,
at få gæster på besøg,
strong enough to stand on.
stærke nok til at stå på.
myself after fading things.
mig selv efter falmende ting.
left behind by Mya Hall,
efterladt af Mya Hall,
conversations at the bus stop.
ved busstoppestedet.
into a mausoleum,
at jeg gjort mig selv til et mausoleum,
my identity into a spectacle,
min identitet til skue
while the brutality of living in this body
mens brutaliteten af at leve in denne krop
at the bottom of equality pages.
i bunden på ligestillingssider.
på os som mennesker
my gender expression is a trick,
at mit kønsudtryk er et trick.
at være perverst,
without their consent,
for their eyes and hands
for deres øjne og hænder
they did not like.
de ikke kunne lide.
hang me with all the other skeletons.
hænge mig op med alle de andre skeletter.
to talk people into coffins,
at snakke mennesker ned i kister,
there are boys rotting,
hvorfor der er drenge som rådner,
in high school hallways
hashtag in a second
endnu et hashtag på ingen ting
becoming like judgment day
bliver ligesom dommedag
more transgender children than parents.
flere transseksuelle børn end forældre.
hvor længe det tager
start to feel redundant,
begynder at føle overflødige,
become lessons about sin
bliver lektioner om synd
all this breath and mercy,
åndedræt og barmhjertighed,
that washed over Jesus' feet.
der skyllede over Jesus fødder.
getting stuck in my throat.
endelig til mine bønner.
