As a producer, Mark has helped create chart-topping albums for Adele, Lily Allen and Bruno Mars (nominated for 2014 Record of the Year for Locked out of Heaven), and won three Grammys for his work on Amy Winehouse's album Back to Black. 2010’s Record Collection featured collaborations with Duran Duran, Boy George, D'Angelo, Q-Tip and MNDR. Mark is the Global Ambassador for Arms Around The Child.

04:13
The other good thing about watching觀看 TEDTED Talks會談,
61
241573
2795
04:16
when you see a really good one,
62
244368

04:18
you kind of all of a sudden突然 wish希望 the speaker揚聲器

04:58
but through通過 the tools工具 available可得到 to me -- technology技術
81
286917
2737
05:01
and the innate先天 way that I approach途徑 making製造 music音樂 --
82
289654
2268
05:03
I can sort分類 of bully欺負 our existences存在物
83
291922
2738
05:06
into a shared共享 event事件,

05:07
which哪一個 is sort分類 of what you saw.
85

05:10
I can hear something that I love in a piece of media媒體
86
298537
3009
05:13
and I can co-opt增選 it
87
301546
1384
05:14
and insert myself in that narrative敘述,
88
302930
2336
05:17
or alter改變 it, even.
89
305266
2972
05:20
In a nutshell簡而言之, that's what I was trying to do
90
308238
1730
05:21
with these things, but more importantly重要的,
91
309968
2206
05:24
that's what the past過去 30 years年份 of music音樂 has been.
92
312174
2390
05:26
That's the major重大的 thread.
93
314564
1688
05:28
See, 30 years年份 ago, you had the first digital數字 samplers取樣器,
94
316252
2723
05:30
and they changed everything overnight過夜.
95
318975
1485
05:32
All of a sudden突然, artists藝術家 could sample樣品
96
320460
1665
05:34
from anything and everything that came來了 before them,

05:49
to create創建 these sonic, layered分層 masterpieces名作
104
337555
3049
05:52
that were basically基本上 the Sgt軍士. Peppers胡椒 of their day.
105
340604
2252
05:54
And they weren't sampling採樣 these records記錄
106
342856
2647
05:57
because they were too lazy to write their own擁有 music音樂.
107
345503
2809
06:00
They weren't sampling採樣 these records記錄 to cash現金 in on
108
348312
1965
06:02
the familiarity熟悉 of the original原版的 stuff東東.
109
350277
1669
06:03
To be honest誠實, it was all about sampling採樣
110
351946
1557
06:07
except for a few少數 obvious明顯 exceptions例外
112
355044
1488
06:08
like Vanilla香草 Ice and "doo doo doo daDA daDA doo doo"
113
356532
2829
06:11
that we know about.
114
359361
1409
06:12
But the thing is,
115
360770
1435
06:14
they were sampling採樣 those records記錄
116
362205
1475
06:15
because they heard聽說 something in that music音樂
117
363680
1798
06:17
that spoke to them
118
365478
2165
06:19
that they instantly即刻 wanted to inject注入 themselves他們自己
119
367643
1998
06:21
into the narrative敘述 of that music音樂.
120
369641
1496
06:23
They heard聽說 it, they wanted to be a part部分 of it,
121
371137
1770
06:24
and all of a sudden突然 they found發現 themselves他們自己
122
372907
1594
06:26
in possession所有權 of the technology技術 to do so,
123
374501
2659
06:29
not much unlike不像 the way the Delta三角洲 blues藍調
124
377160
2191
06:31
struck來襲 a chord with the Stones石頭
and the Beatles披頭士樂隊 and Clapton克萊普頓,
125
379351
2669
06:34
and they felt the need to co-opt增選 that music音樂
126
382020
2290
06:36
for the tools工具 of their day.
127
384310

06:38
You know, in music音樂 we take something that we love

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Mark Ronson - Music producer and DJ
His production credits range from Amy Winehouse to Paul McCartney -- ace DJ, musician and producer Mark Ronson has lived recent music history from the inside out.

Why you should listen

Mark Ronson’s unusual path into the music world has led to an eclectic and multifaceted resume. Ronson began his career DJing hip New York City nightclubs in the heady 1990s. Since then, he’s scored his own hits with the help of Ghostface Killah and Amy Winehouse via his own first two albums Here Comes The Fuzz and Version, winning the Brit Award for best British male sole artist in 2008.
