and the nature of understanding,
i prirodi razumijevanja,
we aim for, everyone.
svi težimo.
your perspective.
you don't have understanding.
as addition, subtraction,
zbrajanje, oduzimanje,
algebra -- all that stuff.
algebra -- takve stvari.
about the essence of mathematics as well.
i o srži matematike.
has to do with patterns.
s uzorcima.
just from drawing circles
crtanja krugova
of mathematics that I use every day
matematike koju svaki dan koristim
a structure, some regularity,
strukturu, neku pravilnost,
these patterns with a language.
ovih uzoraka jezikom.
and just seeing what happens.
samo vidjeti što će se dogoditi.
to do so many things.
činimo mnogo stvari.
imaju imena.
the mathematics of tie knots.
center-out and tie.
sredina-van i zaveži.
left-in, center-out and tie.
lijevi-unutra, sredina-vani zaveži.
for the patterns of tie knots,
uzorke čvorova za kravate,
about tying shoelaces
o vezanju vezica na cipelama
ima uzoraka.
na puno različitih načina.
are all over mathematics.
for patterns in nature.
this with mathematics in a pattern.
prikazati matematikom u uzroku.
for dancing, for tap dancing.
bilježenja za ples, za step.
to do cool stuff, to do new things,
da radi super stvari, nove stvari,
representing something actually is.
prikazati nešto.
represent the word?
prikazuju riječ?
the word and the concept.
riječ i koncept.
going on about representing stuff.
prikazivanju stvari.
that magic that happens
koja se događa
with different widths.
različite širine.
for a particular book.
this book, it's a very nice book.
to je vrlo dobra knjiga.
with some straight lines.
we move one down and one across,
stavimo jednu dolje i jednu preko,
u redu?
ravnih crta.
a little bit. I can rotate it.
Mogu okrenuti crtu.
and look for the true pattern.
i potražiti pravi uzorak.
pretvorim u umjetnost?
the lines like this,
and change our perspective again.
promijenimo perspektivu.
what started out as just straight lines
što je počelo kao ravna crta
day-to-day definition.
svakodnevna definicija.
a little bit deeper,
what the nature of this is.
that's a little bit deeper,
to change your perspective.
da promijenite perspektivu.
you change your perspective,
about what you are watching
što promatrate,
thing that we do all the time.
radimo zaista važno.
this simple equation,
jednostavnu jednadžbu.
and it's true,
i točan je,
and we represent it like this.
i prikazujemo to ovako.
is equal to something else,
that every equation is like this,
svaka jednadžba ovakva,
where you use that equality sign
u kojoj možete koristiti znak jednakosti
and taking two different points of view,
dva stajališta,
beautiful equations.
and the other one is.
a i ovo na drugoj.
of the essential parts
najvažnijih dijelova
different points of view.
različite točke gledišta.
We know what four-thirds is.
Znamo što je četiri trećine.
those three dots,
imati te tri točke,
we use 10 digits.
brojevni sustav od 10 znamenki.
and only use two digits,
dvije znamenke
change the number of digits,
promijeniti broj znamenki,
of the same number.
like 1.3 or 1.6.
kao 1.3 ili 1.6.
how many digits you have.
and write it like this.
four divided by three.
da je četiri podijeljeno na tri.
a relation between two numbers.
između dva broja.
and three on the other.
i tri na drugoj.
from different perspectives.
iz različitih perspektiva.
how we view something,
this line equals five, always.
ova crta je 5, uvijek.
This is a beautiful pattern.
and just play more with this number.
i još se igrati ovim brojem.
I'm going to rotate them like this.
Okretat ću ih ovako.
four-thirds as fast.
brzine drugog kruga.
around four times,
četiri puta,
this dot where the lines meet.
i stavimo točku gdje se crte spajaju.
što će se dogoditi.
što će se dogoditi.
is the image of four-thirds.
for a long time, but --
it sounds like this.
a sound, play the same A.
Pustimo zvuk, pustimo isti A.
by four-thirds. (Beep)
(Pištanje)
I'm changing my perspective.
mijenjanje perspektive.
from another perspective.
three beats at one time (Drumbeats)
tri takta istovremeno (Bubnjevi)
four times in that same space.
četiri puta u istom razdoblju.
but listen to them together.
ali poslušajte ih zajedno.
and play games with this number.
i igrati se ovim brojem.
I love four-thirds!
Volim četiri trećine!
at the volume of the sphere,
i pogledate njezin volumen,
of some particular cylinder.
određenog valjka.
It's the volume of the sphere.
To je volumen kugle.
to understand something
razumjeti nešto
by understanding something.
razumijevanjem nečega.
you understand something
from different perspectives.
iz različitih perspektiva.
It's a beautiful R, right?
To je prekrasno R, zar ne?
you've seen a bunch of R's,
and found a pattern.
pronašli uzorak.
is saying something
and changing your perspective
i promjena perspektive
to teach something,
another story, a metaphor, an analogy,
drugu priču, metaforu, analogiju,
from a different point of view,
over everything you see and hear,
sve što vidite i čujete,
that will become easier for you.
bit će vam lakše.
This is four triangles.
Ovo su četiri trokuta.
na neki način.
we're going to fold it up
and put them together.
change our perspective,
promijeniti perspektivu,
around all of the axes
from another point of view,
but it looks a little different.
malo drugačije.
something else appears,
nešto drugo se pojavi,
more about the object
for creating understanding.
za stvaranje razumijevanja.
and put them together like this
i spojiti ih zajedno, ovako
like the octahedron.
it around like this.
join them together and spin it around,
of an octahedron.
around the octahedron,
oko oktaedra
is related to the octahedron.
s njim povezana.
and just pump it up,
a little bit like the octahedron.
pomalo nalik oktaedru.
a metaphor, stepping back --
učiniti odmak --
with perspectives and analogies.
I'm making several narratives.
Pišem nekoliko pripovijesti.
make understanding possible.
of understanding something.
your perspective --
have a look at the ocean.
pogledajmo ocean.
and view it up close.
from another perspective.
iz druge perspektive.
a little bit more about the ocean.
naučimo još nešto o oceanu.
we can kind of smell it, right?
možemo je namirisati, zar ne?
are different perspectives.
in mathematics and computer science.
u matematici i informatici.
a structure from the inside,
and we've taken this journey
for changing your perspective.
za mijenjanje perspektive.
and that you're sitting here.
i da sjedite ovdje.
from the outside.
are the most imaginative art forms ever.
najmaštovitiji umjetnički izrazi ikada.
from your perspective,
like from your perspective,
and this is all over computer science,
i to je diljem računarstva,
between empathy and these sciences.
između suosjećanja i ovih znanosti.
to change your perspective.
da promijenite perspektivu.
try to change your perspective.
pokušajte promijeniti perspektivu.
makes your mind more flexible.
čini vaš um fleksibilnijim.
able to understand things.
