It's power, and it's influence.

Ona je moć, ona je uticaj.

And that influence affects all of us,

A taj uticaj se proteže na sve nas,

every day, regardless of your own belief.

Moj otac je zapravo verski vođa

određuju pravila
koja poznajem čitavog svog života.

02:09
You get married a virgin,
you never drink alcohol,
you never drink alcohol,
34
117120
2816
Udaj se kao devica,
nikada ne pij alkohol,
nikada ne pij alkohol,
02:11
you don't smoke, you always do service,
35
119960
2376
ne puši,
uvek budi na usluzi,
uvek budi na usluzi,
02:14
you're a good kid.
36
122360
1976
budi dobro dete.
02:16
Some of the rules we had were strict,
37
124360
3576
Neka od ovih pravila su bila veoma stroga,
02:19
but you followed the rules
because you loved the people
because you loved the people
38
127960
2616
ali smo ih poštovali
jer smo voleli te ljude
jer smo voleli te ljude
02:22
and you loved the religion
and you believed.
and you believed.
39
130600
2656
i voleli smo tu veru
i verovali smo.
i verovali smo.
02:25
Everything about Mormonism
determined what you wore,
determined what you wore,
40
133280
2816
Mormonizam je određivao šta ćemo obući,
02:28
who you dated, who you married.
41
136120
1506
s kim zabavljati,
za koga se udati.
za koga se udati.
02:29
It determined what underwear we wore.
42
137651
2349
Određivao je kakav donji veš
treba da nosimo.
treba da nosimo.
02:33
I was the kind of religious
where everyone I know
where everyone I know
43
141040
3056
Pripadala sam religiji
u kojoj bi svako koga znam
u kojoj bi svako koga znam
02:36
donated 10 percent of everything
they earned to the church,
they earned to the church,
44
144120
3376
donirao crkvi 10 procenata
od svih svojih prihoda,
od svih svojih prihoda,
02:39
including myself.
45
147520
1216
uključujući i mene.
02:40
From paper routes and babysitting,
I donated 10 percent.
I donated 10 percent.
46
148760
3936
Od raznošenja novina i čuvanja dece,
donirala sam 10 procenata.
donirala sam 10 procenata.
02:44
I was the kind of religious
where I heard parents tell children
where I heard parents tell children
47
152720
3056
Pripadala sam religiji
u kojoj bi roditelji govorili deci,
u kojoj bi roditelji govorili deci,
02:47
when they're leaving
on a two-year proselytizing mission
on a two-year proselytizing mission
48
155800
3616
kada polaze u svoju
dvogodišnju prozelitsku misiju,
dvogodišnju prozelitsku misiju,
02:51
that they would rather have them die
49
159440
2536
da bi bilo bolje da su mrtvi
02:54
than return home
without honor, having sinned.
without honor, having sinned.
50
162000
3216
nego da se vrate kući obešćašćeni,
ukaljani grehom.
ukaljani grehom.
02:57
I was the type and the kind of religious
51
165240
2456
Pripadala sam religiji
02:59
where kids kill themselves
every single year
every single year
52
167720
3456
u kojoj su deca svake godine
izvršavala samoubistvo
izvršavala samoubistvo
03:03
because they're terrified
of coming out to our community as gay.
of coming out to our community as gay.
53
171200
4336
jer su bila previše uplašena
da pred svima otkriju da su homoseksualci.
da pred svima otkriju da su homoseksualci.
03:07
But I was also the kind of religious
54
175560
2016
Ali sam takođe pripadala religiji
03:09
where it didn't matter
where in the world I lived,
where in the world I lived,
55
177600
2536
u kojoj nije bilo važno
u kom delu sveta živim,
u kom delu sveta živim,
03:12
I had friendship,
instantaneous mutual aid.
instantaneous mutual aid.
56
180160
3776
imala sam prijatelje,
uzajamnu pomoć u svakom trenutku.
uzajamnu pomoć u svakom trenutku.
03:15
This was where I felt safe.
This is certainty and clarity about life.
This is certainty and clarity about life.
57
183960
4216
Tada sam se osećala bezbednom.
To se zove izvesnost i jasnoća života.
To se zove izvesnost i jasnoća života.
03:20
I had help raising my little daughter.
58
188200
2256
Imala sam pomoć
oko vaspitavanja svoje ćerke.
oko vaspitavanja svoje ćerke.
03:22
So that's why I accepted without question
that only men can lead,
that only men can lead,
59
190480
4896
I zato sam bespogovorno prihvatala
da jedino muškarci mogu biti vođe,
da jedino muškarci mogu biti vođe,
03:27
and I accepted without question
60
195400
2136
i bespogovorno sam prihvatala
03:29
that women can't have the spiritual
authority of God on the Earth,
authority of God on the Earth,
61
197560
3136
da žene ne mogu imati na zemlji
duhovni autoritet dat od boga,
duhovni autoritet dat od boga,
03:32
which we call the priesthood.
62
200720
1416
koji nazivamo svešteništvom.
03:34
And I allowed discrepancies between
men and women in operating budgets,
men and women in operating budgets,
63
202160
4496
I pristajala sam na nejednakost između
muškaraca i žena pri vođenju budžeta,
muškaraca i žena pri vođenju budžeta,
03:38
disciplinary councils,
in decision-making capacities,
in decision-making capacities,
64
206680
3376
disciplinskih komisija,
prilikom donošenja odluka,
prilikom donošenja odluka,
03:42
and I gave my religion a free pass
65
210080
3136
i gledala sam svojoj religiji kroz prste
03:45
because I loved it.
66
213240
1856
jer sam je volela.
03:47
Until I stopped,
67
215120
1976
Sve dok nisam prestala,
03:49
and I realized that I had
been allowing myself to be treated
been allowing myself to be treated
68
217120
3616
i shvatila da sam dopuštala
da se prema meni ophode
da se prema meni ophode
03:52
as the support staff
to the real work of men.
to the real work of men.
69
220760
4896
kao da sam pomoćno osoblje muškarcima
u njihovim pravim poslovima.
u njihovim pravim poslovima.
03:57
And I faced this contradiction in myself,
70
225680
2376
Suočila sam se u sebi
sa ovom protivurečnošću,
sa ovom protivurečnošću,
04:00
and I joined with other activists
in my community.
in my community.
71
228080
2736
i pridružila se drugim
aktivistima u svojoj zajednici.
aktivistima u svojoj zajednici.
04:02
We've been working very, very, very hard
for the last decade and more.
for the last decade and more.
72
230840
4376
Više od jedne decenije,
veoma, veoma, veoma vredno radimo.
veoma, veoma, veoma vredno radimo.
04:07
The first thing we did
was raise consciousness.
was raise consciousness.
73
235240
2214
Prvo što smo uradile
jeste podizanje svesti.
jeste podizanje svesti.
04:09
You can't change what you can't see.
74
237478
2498
Ne možete promeniti ono što ne vidite.
04:12
We started podcasting,
blogging, writing articles.
blogging, writing articles.
75
240000
3216
Počele smo da kreiramo podkastove,
pišemo blogove i članke.
pišemo blogove i članke.
04:15
I created lists of hundreds of ways
76
243240
2536
Sastavila sam liste o stotine načina
04:17
that men and women
are unequal in our community.
are unequal in our community.
77
245800
3016
po kojima se mučkarci i žene
u našoj zajednici razlikuju.
u našoj zajednici razlikuju.
04:20
The next thing we did
was build advocacy organizations.
was build advocacy organizations.
78
248840
3496
Sledeća stvar je bila
oformljavanje zastupničkih organizacija.
oformljavanje zastupničkih organizacija.
04:24
We tried to do things
that were unignorable,
that were unignorable,
79
252360
3936
Pokušale smo da uradimo stvari
koje nisu mogle proći nezapažene,
koje nisu mogle proći nezapažene,
04:28
like wearing pants to church
and trying to attend all-male meetings.
and trying to attend all-male meetings.
80
256320
5456
kao što je nošenje pantalona u crkvi
i pokušaji učešća na sastancima muškaraca.
i pokušaji učešća na sastancima muškaraca.
04:33
These seem like simple things,
81
261800
2496
Ove stvari deluju jednostavno,
04:36
but to us, the organizers,
they were enormously costly.
they were enormously costly.
82
264320
4216
ali za nas, organizatorke,
cena je bila ogromna.
cena je bila ogromna.
04:40
We lost relationships. We lost jobs.
83
268560
3256
Izgubile smo prijatelje.
Izgubile smo radna mesta.
Izgubile smo radna mesta.
04:43
We got hate mail on a daily basis.
84
271840
2056
Svakodnevno smo dobijale preteće poruke.
04:45
We were attacked in social media
and national press.
and national press.
85
273920
3336
Napadali su nas na društvenim mrežama
i u nacionalnoj štampi.
i u nacionalnoj štampi.
04:49
We received death threats.
86
277280
1696
Dobijale smo pretnje smrću.
04:51
We lost standing in our community.
Some of us got excommunicated.
Some of us got excommunicated.
87
279000
4216
Izgubile smo ugled u svojoj zajednici.
Neke od nas su izopštili.
Neke od nas su izopštili.
04:55
Most of us got put
in front of a disciplinary council,
in front of a disciplinary council,
88
283240
2896
Većinu nas su izveli
pred disciplinsku komisiju,
pred disciplinsku komisiju,
04:58
and were rejected
from the communities that we loved
from the communities that we loved
89
286160
3136
i bile smo odbačene
od strane zajednice koju smo volele
od strane zajednice koju smo volele
05:01
because we wanted to make them better,
because we believed that they could be.
because we believed that they could be.
90
289320
4000
zato što smo želele da ih učinimo boljim,
jer smo verovale da oni to mogu biti.
jer smo verovale da oni to mogu biti.
05:06
And I began to expect this reaction
from my own people.
from my own people.
91
294480
3256
Mogla sam da očekujem ovakvu reakciju
od strane mojih ljudi.
od strane mojih ljudi.
05:09
I know what it feels like when you feel
like someone's trying to change you
like someone's trying to change you
92
297760
3936
Znam kako je to
kada neko pokušava da te promeni
kada neko pokušava da te promeni
05:13
or criticize you.
93
301720
2016
ili kritikuje.
05:15
But what utterly shocked me
was throughout all of this work
was throughout all of this work
94
303760
4136
Ali ono što me je potpuno zaprepastilo
jeste to što sam za sve vreme ovog rada,
jeste to što sam za sve vreme ovog rada,
05:19
I received equal measures of vitriol
from the secular left,
from the secular left,
95
307920
4200
primala jednake količine uvreda
od strane sekularne levice,
od strane sekularne levice,
05:25
the same vehemence as the religious right.
96
313400
3696
jednake žestine kao one
od strane religijske desnice.
od strane religijske desnice.
05:29
And what my secular friends didn't realize
was that this religious hostility,
was that this religious hostility,
97
317120
3856
Moji sekularni prijatelji nisu shvatali
da ovo versko neprijateljstvo,
da ovo versko neprijateljstvo,
05:33
these phrases of, "Oh, all religious
people are crazy or stupid."
people are crazy or stupid."
98
321000
4136
ove fraze:
"O, svi vernici su ludi ili glupi."
"O, svi vernici su ludi ili glupi."
05:37
"Don't pay attention to religion."
99
325160
2056
"Ne obraćaj pažnju na religiju."
05:39
"They're going to be
homophobic and sexist."
homophobic and sexist."
100
327240
3336
"Oni će biti homofobni ili seksistički."
05:42
What they didn't understand
101
330600
2056
Oni nisu shvatali
05:44
was that that type of hostility
did not fight religious extremism,
did not fight religious extremism,
102
332680
4560
da takva vrsta neprijateljstva ne pomaže
u borbi protiv verskog ekstremizma,
u borbi protiv verskog ekstremizma,
05:49
it bred religious extremism.
103
337280
3336
ono ga podstiče.
05:52
Those arguments don't work,
and I know because I remember
and I know because I remember
104
340640
3416
Ti argumenti ne vrede,
a to znam jer se sećam
a to znam jer se sećam
05:56
someone telling me
that I was stupid for being Mormon.
that I was stupid for being Mormon.
105
344080
4040
da mi je neko rekao da sam glupa
što sam mormonka.
što sam mormonka.
06:01
And what it caused me to do
was defend myself and my people
was defend myself and my people
106
349800
3856
A to me je podstaklo
da branim sebe i svoje ljude
da branim sebe i svoje ljude
06:05
and everything we believe in,
because we're not stupid.
because we're not stupid.
107
353680
3480
i sve ono u šta verujemo,
jer nismo glupi.
jer nismo glupi.
06:10
So criticism and hostility doesn't work,
and I didn't listen to these arguments.
and I didn't listen to these arguments.
108
358720
4776
Kritikovanje i neprijateljstvo ne deluju,
i nisam slušala te argumente.
i nisam slušala te argumente.
06:15
When I hear these arguments,
I still continue to bristle,
I still continue to bristle,
109
363520
2696
I sad se naježim
kada čujem ovakve argumente,
kada čujem ovakve argumente,
06:18
because I have family and friends.
110
366240
1656
jer imam porodicu i prijatelje.
06:19
These are my people,
and I'm the first to defend them,
and I'm the first to defend them,
111
367920
2696
To su moji ljudi,
i prva stajem u njihovu odbranu,
i prva stajem u njihovu odbranu,
06:22
but the struggle is real.
112
370640
2016
ali, borba je stvarna.
06:24
How do we respect
someone's religious beliefs
someone's religious beliefs
113
372680
3776
Kako da uvažimo nečija verska ubeđenja,
06:28
while still holding them accountable
for the harm or damage
for the harm or damage
114
376480
3296
a da ih istovremeno smatramo
odgovornim za štetu i nepravdu
odgovornim za štetu i nepravdu
06:31
that those beliefs may cause others?
115
379800
2296
koje ta ubeđenja mogu naneti drugima?
06:34
It's a tough question.
I still don't have a perfect answer.
I still don't have a perfect answer.
116
382120
2776
To je teško pitanje.
Još uvek nemam pravi odgovor.
Još uvek nemam pravi odgovor.
06:36
My parents and I have been walking
on this tightrope for the last decade.
on this tightrope for the last decade.
117
384920
4136
Deset godina, moji roditelji i ja
hodamo po toj tankoj liniji.
hodamo po toj tankoj liniji.
06:41
They're intelligent people.
They're lovely people.
They're lovely people.
118
389080
2736
Oni su inteligentni ljudi.
Oni su divni ljudi.
Oni su divni ljudi.
06:43
And let me try to help you
understand their perspective.
understand their perspective.
119
391840
3896
Dozvolite mi da vam pomognem
da razumete stvari iz njihove perspektive.
da razumete stvari iz njihove perspektive.
06:47
In Mormonism, we believe
that after you die,
that after you die,
120
395760
2976
U mormonstvu, mi verujemo
da se nakon smrti,
da se nakon smrti,
06:50
if you keep all the rules
and you follow all the rituals,
and you follow all the rituals,
121
398760
3336
ukoliko se držite svih pravila
i ako sledite sve običaje,
i ako sledite sve običaje,
06:54
you can be together as a family again.
122
402120
3096
možete se ponovo ujediniti
sa svojom porodicom.
sa svojom porodicom.
06:57
And to my parents,
me doing something as simple
me doing something as simple
123
405240
2416
A po mojim roditeljima,
nešto veoma obično
nešto veoma obično
06:59
as having a sleeveless top right now,
showing my shoulders,
showing my shoulders,
124
407680
3376
kao što je moje nošenje
haljine bez rukava, otkrivanje ramena,
haljine bez rukava, otkrivanje ramena,
07:03
that makes me unworthy.
125
411080
1776
to me čini nedostojnom.
07:04
I won't be with my family
in the eternities.
in the eternities.
126
412880
3336
Neću biti sa svojom porodicom u večnosti.
07:08
But even more, I had a brother
die in a tragic accident at 15,
die in a tragic accident at 15,
127
416240
4176
Šta više, moj brat je poginuo
sa 15 godina u tragičnoj nesreći,
sa 15 godina u tragičnoj nesreći,
07:12
and something as simple as this
means we won't be together as a family.
means we won't be together as a family.
128
420440
4256
i nešto tako obično kao što je ovo
znači da nećemo biti zajedno kao porodica.
znači da nećemo biti zajedno kao porodica.
07:16
And to my parents, they cannot understand
129
424720
3576
I moji roditelji ne mogu da shvate
07:20
why something as simple
as fashion or women's rights
as fashion or women's rights
130
428320
3096
zašto bi me nešto tako obično
kao što su moda ili ženska prava,
kao što su moda ili ženska prava,
07:23
would prevent me
from seeing my brother again.
from seeing my brother again.
131
431440
2696
sprečilo da ponovo vidim svog brata.
07:26
And that's the mindset
that we're dealing with,
that we're dealing with,
132
434160
2736
I to je način razmišljanja
sa kojim imamo posla,
sa kojim imamo posla,
07:28
and criticism does not change that.
133
436920
3096
a kritika to ne može promeniti.
07:32
And so my parents and I
have been walking this tightrope,
have been walking this tightrope,
134
440040
2696
I tako moji roditelji i ja
hodamo po toj tankoj liniji,
hodamo po toj tankoj liniji,
07:34
explaining our sides,
respecting one another,
respecting one another,
135
442760
2936
objašnjavajući svoje stavove,
uvažavajući jedni druge,
uvažavajući jedni druge,
07:37
but actually invalidating
each other's very basic beliefs
each other's very basic beliefs
136
445720
3976
a zapravo uzajamno potiremo
svoja najosnovnija uverenja
svoja najosnovnija uverenja
07:41
by the way we live our lives,
and it's been difficult.
and it's been difficult.
137
449720
3336
načinom na koji živimo svoje živote,
a to ne ide lako.
a to ne ide lako.
07:45
The way that we've been able to do that
138
453080
2456
Ovo nam uspeva tako
07:47
is to get past those defensive shells
139
455560
2416
što rušimo svoje odbrambene zidove
07:50
and really see the soft inside
of unbelief and belief
of unbelief and belief
140
458000
4016
i istinski sagledavamo
osetljivi sadržaj neverovanja i verovanja
osetljivi sadržaj neverovanja i verovanja
07:54
and try to respect each other
while still holding boundaries clear.
while still holding boundaries clear.
141
462040
4616
i pokušavamo da uvažimo jedni druge,
istovremeno postavljajući jasne granice.
istovremeno postavljajući jasne granice.
07:58
The other thing that the secular left
and the atheists and the orthodox
and the atheists and the orthodox
142
466680
4456
Druga stvar koju sekularna levica
i ateisti i pravoverni
i ateisti i pravoverni
08:03
and the religious right,
what they all don't understand
what they all don't understand
143
471160
4016
i religijska desnica,
oni zaista ne shvataju
oni zaista ne shvataju
08:07
was why even care
about religious activism?
about religious activism?
144
475200
2856
zašto je uopšte bitan
verski aktivizam?
verski aktivizam?
08:10
I cannot tell you the hundreds
of people who have said,
of people who have said,
145
478080
3056
Stotine ljudi mi je reklo:
08:13
"If you don't like religion, just leave."
146
481160
2616
"Ako ti se ne dopada relgija,
jednostavno izađi."
jednostavno izađi."
08:15
Why would you try to change it?
147
483800
1880
"Zašto bi pokušavala da je promeniš?"
08:18
Because what is taught on the Sabbath
148
486880
2437
Zato što se ono čemu nas uče na veronauci
08:21
leaks into our politics,
our health policy,
our health policy,
149
489342
3034
preliva u našu politiku,
zdravstvenu politiku,
zdravstvenu politiku,
08:24
violence around the world.
150
492400
1856
nasilje širom sveta.
08:26
It leaks into education,
military, fiscal decision-making.
military, fiscal decision-making.
151
494280
3696
Preliva se u obrazovanje,
vojsku, odlučivanje o budžetu.
vojsku, odlučivanje o budžetu.
08:30
These laws get legally
and culturally codified.
and culturally codified.
152
498000
3296
Ovi zakoni postaju
deo pravnog i kulturnog sistema.
deo pravnog i kulturnog sistema.
08:33
In fact, my own religion has had
an enormous effect on this nation.
an enormous effect on this nation.
153
501320
4936
U stvari, moja sopstvena vera
je imala ogroman uticaj na ovu naciju.
je imala ogroman uticaj na ovu naciju.
08:38
For example, during Prop 8,
my church raised over 22 million dollars
my church raised over 22 million dollars
154
506280
4576
Na primer, za vreme Predloga 8 moja crkva
je sakupila preko 22 miliona dolara
je sakupila preko 22 miliona dolara
08:42
to fight same-sex marriage in California.
155
510880
3279
za borbu
protiv istopolnih brakova u Kaliforniji.
protiv istopolnih brakova u Kaliforniji.
08:46
Forty years ago,
political historians will say,
political historians will say,
156
514840
4216
Pre četrdeset godina,
istoričari politike će potvrditi,
istoričari politike će potvrditi,
08:51
that if it wasn't for the Mormon
opposition to the Equal Rights Amendment,
opposition to the Equal Rights Amendment,
157
519080
3856
da nije bilo mormonskog protivljenja
Amandmanu o jednakim pravima,
Amandmanu o jednakim pravima,
08:54
we'd have an Equal Rights Amendment
in our Constitution today.
in our Constitution today.
158
522960
3816
u današnjem Ustavu bismo imali
Amandman o jednakim pravima.
Amandman o jednakim pravima.
08:58
How many lives did that affect?
159
526800
3160
Na koliko je to života uticalo?
09:02
And we can spend time
fighting every single one
fighting every single one
160
530800
2776
Možemo trošiti vreme na borbu
protiv svakog pojediančnog
protiv svakog pojediančnog
09:05
of these little tiny laws and rules,
161
533600
3136
ovakvog zakona i pravila,
09:08
or we can ask ourselves,
162
536760
1576
ili se možemo zapitati
09:10
why is gender inequality
the default around the world?
the default around the world?
163
538360
6176
zašto je neravnopravnost polova
standard širom sveta?
standard širom sveta?
09:16
Why is that the assumption?
164
544560
2656
Odakle ova pretpostavka?
09:19
Because religion doesn't just
create the roots of morality,
create the roots of morality,
165
547240
5936
Zato što religija ne oblikuje
samo temelje moralnosti
samo temelje moralnosti
09:25
it creates the seeds of normality.
166
553200
4056
već oblikuje i naše shvatanje normalnosti.
09:29
Religions can liberate or subjugate,
167
557280
3336
Religije mogu osloboditi ili potčiniti,
09:32
they can empower or exploit,
they can comfort or destroy,
they can comfort or destroy,
168
560640
3216
mogu osnažiti ili iskoristiti,
mogu utešiti ili uništiti,
mogu utešiti ili uništiti,
09:35
and the people that tip the scales
over to the ethical and the moral
over to the ethical and the moral
169
563880
4536
ali ljudi koji pomeraju tas na vagi
u korist etičnog i moralnog,
u korist etičnog i moralnog,
09:40
are often not those in charge.
170
568440
3136
često nisu na odgovornim položajima.
09:43
Religions can't be dismissed or ignored.
171
571600
2896
Ne možemo odbaciti
ili ignorisati religije.
ili ignorisati religije.
09:46
We need to take them seriously.
172
574520
2896
Moramo ih ozbiljno shvatiti.
09:49
But it's not easy to influence a religion,
like we just talked about.
like we just talked about.
173
577440
4536
Ali nije jednostavno uticati na religiju,
kako smo upravo rekli.
kako smo upravo rekli.
09:54
But I'll tell you
what my people have done.
what my people have done.
174
582000
2216
Ali reći ću vam šta su moji ljudi uradili.
09:56
My groups are small,
there's hundreds of us,
there's hundreds of us,
175
584240
2096
Moje grupe su male, ima nas na stotine
09:58
but we've had huge impact.
176
586360
2376
ali smo imale ogroman uticaj.
10:00
Right now, women's pictures
are hanging in the halls next to men
are hanging in the halls next to men
177
588760
3016
Upravo sada, slike žena stoje
u salama pored slika muškaraca
u salama pored slika muškaraca
10:03
for the first time.
178
591800
1216
po prvi put.
10:05
Women are now allowed
to pray in our church-wide meetings,
to pray in our church-wide meetings,
179
593040
2736
Ženama je sada dopušteno
da se mole na crkvenim saborima.
da se mole na crkvenim saborima.
10:07
and they never were before
in the general conferences.
in the general conferences.
180
595800
3016
a nikada ranije to nisu mogle
na generalnim konferencijama.
na generalnim konferencijama.
10:10
As of last week, in a historic move,
181
598840
2536
Prošle nedelje
povučen je istorijski potez,
povučen je istorijski potez,
10:13
three women were invited
down to three leadership boards
down to three leadership boards
182
601400
3176
tri žene su pozvane u tri izvršna odbora
10:16
that oversee the entire church.
183
604600
1976
koji nadgledaju čitavu crkvu.
10:18
We've seen perceptual shifts
in the Mormon community
in the Mormon community
184
606600
2816
Primetne su i promene u shvatanju
u mormonskoj zajednici
u mormonskoj zajednici
10:21
that allow for talk of gender inequality.
185
609440
2496
koje dopuštaju razgovor
o rodnoj nejednakosti.
o rodnoj nejednakosti.
10:23
We've opened up space,
regardless of being despised,
regardless of being despised,
186
611960
3376
Otvorile smo prostor,
bez obzira što smo prezrene,
bez obzira što smo prezrene,
10:27
for more conservative women
to step in and make real changes,
to step in and make real changes,
187
615360
3896
konzervativnijim ženama
da pristupe i načine stvarne promene,
da pristupe i načine stvarne promene,
10:31
and the words "women" and "the priesthood"
can now be uttered in the same sentence.
can now be uttered in the same sentence.
188
619280
4856
a reči "žene" i "sveštenstvo"
se sad mogu izgovoriti u istoj rečenici.
se sad mogu izgovoriti u istoj rečenici.
10:36
I never had that.
189
624160
2616
Ja to nikada nisam imala.
10:38
My daughter and my nieces are inheriting
a religion that I never had,
a religion that I never had,
190
626800
4576
Moja ćerka i moje nećake
naslediće veru koju ja nikada nisam imala,
naslediće veru koju ja nikada nisam imala,
10:43
that's more equal -- we've had an effect.
191
631400
2760
koja je ravnopravnija -
ostvarile smo uticaj.
ostvarile smo uticaj.
10:47
It wasn't easy standing in those lines
192
635400
2896
Nije nam bilo lako stajati u onim redovima
10:50
trying to get into those male meetings.
193
638320
3176
i pokušavati da uđemo
na one sastanke muškaraca.
na one sastanke muškaraca.
10:53
There were hundreds of us,
194
641520
2176
Bilo nas je na stotine,
10:55
and one by one, when we got to the door,
195
643720
2616
i jedna po jedna,
kad bismo došle do vrata,
kad bismo došle do vrata,
10:58
we were told, "I'm sorry,
this meeting is just for men,"
this meeting is just for men,"
196
646360
3656
rekli bi nam: "Žao mi je,
ovaj sastanak je samo za muškarce",
ovaj sastanak je samo za muškarce",
11:02
and we had to step back
and watch men get into the meeting
and watch men get into the meeting
197
650040
4776
i morale bismo da se povučemo i
posmatramo muškarce kako ulaze na sastanak
posmatramo muškarce kako ulaze na sastanak
11:06
as young as 12 years old,
198
654840
2136
čak i dvanaestogodišnjake
11:09
escorted and walked past us
as we all stood in line.
as we all stood in line.
199
657000
4056
koje su uz pratnju provodili pored nas
dok smo stajale u redu.
dok smo stajale u redu.
11:13
But not one woman in that line
will forget that day,
will forget that day,
200
661080
2736
Ali ni jedna žena u tom redu
neće zaboraviti taj dan,
neće zaboraviti taj dan,
11:15
and not one little boy
that walked past us will forget that day.
that walked past us will forget that day.
201
663840
3960
i ni jedan dečak koje je prošao pored nas
neće zaboraviti taj dan.
neće zaboraviti taj dan.
11:21
If we were a multinational corporation
or a government, and that had happened,
or a government, and that had happened,
202
669520
5616
Da smo multinacionalna korporacija
ili vlada, i da se to desilo,
ili vlada, i da se to desilo,
11:27
there would be outrage,
203
675160
1616
javnost bi bila šokirana,
11:28
but we're just a religion.
204
676800
2416
ali mi smo samo religija.
11:31
We're all just part of religions.
205
679240
2960
Svi smo mi samo deo različitih religija.
11:35
We can't keep looking
at religion that way,
at religion that way,
206
683120
2736
Ne možemo i dalje
posmatrati religiju na taj način
posmatrati religiju na taj način
11:37
because it doesn't only affect me,
it affects my daughter
it affects my daughter
207
685880
2856
jer ona ne utiče samo na mene,
utiče i na moju ćerku
utiče i na moju ćerku
11:40
and all of your daughters
and what opportunities they have,
and what opportunities they have,
208
688760
2976
i na sve vaše ćerke,
i na prilike koje im se pružaju,
i na prilike koje im se pružaju,
11:43
what they can wear,
who they can love and marry,
who they can love and marry,
209
691760
2253
šta da obuku, koga da vole
za koga da se udaju,
za koga da se udaju,
11:46
if they have access
to reproductive healthcare.
to reproductive healthcare.
210
694038
3098
da li im je dostupna
zaštita reproduktivnog zdravlja.
zaštita reproduktivnog zdravlja.
11:49
We need to reclaim morality
in a secular context
in a secular context
211
697160
