Si i zbulojme planetet-- madje edhe ato me jete---perreth yjeve te tjere? Duke studiuar njollen e vogel ndersa planeti kalon perpara diellit te tij, partner e TED Luciane Walkowicz dhe misioni Kepler kane gjetur rreth 1,200 sisteme planetare te fuqisheme. Me teknikat e reja , ata mund edhe te gjejne ndonje planet me kushte te pershtatshme jete.

Sistemet Planetare jashte sistemit tone
00:17
are like distant cities whose lights we can see twinkling,
1
2000
3000
jane si qytete te largeta me drita qe pulsojne,
00:20
but whose streets we can't walk.
2

por qe ne te rruget e te cilit ne nuk mund te ecim.
00:23
By studying those twinkling lights though,
3

2000
Duke studiuar keto drita pulsuese,
00:25
we can learn about how stars and planets interact
4
10000
3000
mund te mesojme se si yjet dhe planetet bashkeveprojne
00:28
to form their own ecosystem

Misioni Kepler
00:41
Can you see it?
11
26000
2000
A mund ta shihni ate?
00:43
There we go.
12
28000
2000
Ja ku po fillojme.
00:45
This is just a tiny part of the sky the Kepler stares at,
13
30000
3000
Kjo eshte thjesht nje pjesez e vogel e qiellit qe Kepler vezhgon
00:48
where it searches for planets
14
33000
2000
aty ku kerkon per planetet
00:50
by measuring the light from over 150,000 stars,
15
35000
3000
duke matur ndricimin e 150,000 yjeve,
00:53
all at once, every half hour,
16
38000
2000
ne te njejten kohe, cdo gjysem ore,
00:55
and very precisely.
17
40000
2000
dhe shume preciz.
00:57
And what we're looking for
18
42000
2000
Dhe ate qe po kerkojme
00:59
is the tiny dimming of light
19
44000
2000
eshte nje dobesim i vogeli drites
01:01
that is caused by a planet passing in front of one of these stars
20
46000
3000
qe shkaktohet kur planeti kalon perpara njerit prej yjeve
01:04
and blocking some of that starlight from getting to us.
21
49000
3000
duke bllokuar pak nga drita qe vjen te ne.
01:07
In just over two years of operations,
22
52000
3000
Per me pak se 2 vjet kerkimesh
01:10
we've found over 1,200
23
55000
2000
ne kemi gjetur mbi 1,200
01:12
potential new planetary systems around other stars.
24
57000
3000
sisteme te reja planetare rreth yjeve te tjere
01:15
To give you some perspective,
25
60000
2000
Qe tju jap nje perspektive,
01:17
in the previous two decades of searching,
26
62000
3000
ne dy dekadat e meparshme te kerkimeve,
01:20
we had only known about 400
27
65000
2000
njiheshin vetem rreth 400
01:22
prior to Kepler.
28
67000
2000
perpara Keplerit.
01:24
When we see these little dips in the light,
29
69000
2000
Kur shikojme keto dobesime drite,
01:26
we can determine a number of things.
30
71000
2000
ne mund te percaktojme nje numer gjerash.
01:28
For one thing, we can determine that there's a planet there,
31
73000
2000
Ne fillim ne mund te percaktojme qe aty ka nje planet
01:30
but also how big that planet is
32
75000
3000
por gjithashtu dhe se sa i madhe eshte
01:33
and how far it is away from its parent star.
33
78000
3000
dhe se sa larg eshte nga ylli meme.
01:36
That distance is really important
34
81000
2000
Ajo distance eshte shume e rendesishme
01:38
because it tells us
35
83000
2000
sepse na tregon
01:40
how much light the planet receives overall.
36
85000
2000
sa shume drite merr planeti ne teresi.
01:42
And that distance and knowing that amount of light is important
37
87000
3000
Kjo distance dhe kjo sasi sasi drite jane te rendesishme,
01:45
because it's a little like you or I sitting around a campfire:
38
90000
3000
sepse eshte sikur ti ose une jemi ulur rreth zjarrit.
01:48
You want to be close enough to the campfire so that you're warm,
39
93000
2000
Ti do te rrish aq afer zjarrit qe te ngrohesh ,
01:50
but not so close
40
95000
2000
por jo shume afer
01:52
that you're too toasty and you get burned.
41
97000
2000
qe te arrish te digjesh.
01:54
However, there's more to know about your parent star
42
99000
3000
Megjithate, ka me shume per te mesuar rreth ylllit te nje planeti
01:57
than just how much light you receive overall.
43
102000
2000
sesa drita qe merr ne teresi.
01:59
And I'll tell you why.
44
104000
2000
Dhe do t'ju tregoj pse.
02:01
This is our star. This is our Sun.
45
106000
3000
Ky eshte ylli jone. Ky eshte Dielli.
02:04
It's shown here in visible light.
46
109000
2000
Eshte ne drite te dukshme.
02:06
That's the light that you can see with your own human eyes.
47
111000
2000
Kjo eshte drita qe mund te shohesh me sy njerezor.
02:08
You'll notice that it looks pretty much
48
113000
2000
Ju do te vereni qe duket si
02:10
like the iconic yellow ball --
49
115000
2000
portreti i nje topi te verdhe--
02:12
that Sun that we all draw when we're children.
50
117000
2000
si Dielli qe vizatonim kur ishim femije.
02:14
But you'll notice something else,
51
119000
2000
Por ju do te vereni dicka tjeter,
02:16
and that's that the face of the Sun
52
121000
2000
qe faqja e Diellit
02:18
has freckles.
53
123000
2000
ka njolla.
02:20
These freckles are called sunspots,
54
125000
2000
Keto njolla quhen njolla-djellore,
02:22
and they are just one of the manifestations
55
127000
2000
dhe jane vetem nje tregues
02:24
of the Sun's magnetic field.
56
129000
2000
i fushes magnetike te diellit.
02:26
They also cause the light from the star to vary.
57
131000
3000
Ato gjthashtu shkaktojne ndryshimin e ndricimit.
02:29
And we can measure this
58
134000
2000
Dhe mund ta masim kete
02:31
very, very precisely with Kepler and trace their effects.
59
136000
3000
shume, shume saktesisht me Kepler dhe te ndjekim efektet e tyre.
02:34
However, these are just the tip of the iceberg.
60
139000
3000
Megjithate, keto jane vetem maja e ajsbergut.
02:37
If we had UV eyes or X-ray eyes,
61
142000
3000
Nqse ne do kishim sy me rreze UV ose X,
02:40
we would really see
62
145000
2000
ne do te shihnim
02:42
the dynamic and dramatic effects
63
147000
2000
efektet dinamike dhe dramatike
02:44
of our Sun's magnetic activity --
64
149000
2000
te aktivitetit te fushes magnetike te Diellit---
02:46
the kind of thing that happens on other stars as well.
65
151000
3000
kjo gje qe ndodh edhe tek yjet e tjere.
02:49
Just think, even when it's cloudy outside,
66
154000
2000
Vetem mendoni, madje edhe kur moti eshte me re,
02:51
these kind of events are happening
67
156000
2000
kete lloj evente jane duke ndodhur
02:53
in the sky above you all the time.
68
158000
3000
ne qiell siper teje gjate gjithe kohes.
02:57
So when we want to learn whether a planet is habitable,
69
162000
3000
Keshtu qe kur duam te dime nqse nje planet eshte i banueshem,
03:00
whether it might be amenable to life,
70
165000
2000
dhe mund te jete i besueshem per jetesen,
03:02
we want to know not only how much total light it receives
71
167000
2000
ne duam te dime jo vetem sesa drite merr
03:04
and how warm it is,
72
169000
2000
dhe sa i ngrohte eshte,
03:06
but we want to know about its space weather --
73
171000
3000
por ne duam motin hapsinor qe ka --
03:09
this high-energy radiation,
74
174000
2000
kete energji te larte rrezatuese,
03:11
the UV and the X-rays
75
176000
2000
te rrezeve UV dhe X
03:13
that are created by its star
76
178000
2000
qe jane krijuar nga ylli i tij
03:15
and that bathe it in this bath of high-energy radiation.
77
180000
3000
ne te cilen ai zhytet.
03:18
And so, we can't really look
78
183000
2000
Pra, nuk mund te shikojme
03:20
at planets around other stars
79
185000
2000
tek planetet e yjeve te tjere
03:22
in the same kind of detail
80
187000
2000
ne menyre kaq te detajuar
03:24
that we can look at planets in our own solar system.
81
189000
3000
si tek planetet e sistemit tone djellor.
03:27
I'm showing here Venus, Earth and Mars --
82
192000
2000
Po ju tregoj ketu Venusin, Token, dhe Marsin --
03:29
three planets in our own solar system that are roughly the same size,
83
194000
3000
tre planetet ne sistemin tone diellor qe jane afersisht ne te njejten mase,
03:32
but only one of which
84
197000
2000
por vetem njeri nga te cilet
03:34
is really a good place to live.
85
199000
2000
eshte i mire per te jetuar.
03:36
But what we can do in the meantime
86
201000
2000
Por cfare mund te bejme ne kete kohe
03:38
is measure the light from our stars
87
203000
3000
eshte ta masim driten nga yjet tona
03:41
and learn about this relationship
88
206000
2000
dhe te studiojme marrdhenien
03:43
between the planets and their parent stars
89
208000
2000
midis planeteve dhe yjeve meme
03:45
to suss out clues
90
210000
2000
per te zbuluar
03:47
about which planets might be good places
91
