263000
3000
Dobro, o čemu pričati kada pričaš o umovima?
04:41
One thing, there's one obviousočigledan thing to talk about --

266000

O jednom vrlo očitom problemu --

05:00
It's a scientificznanstvena questionpitanje after all.
115
285000
3000
Naposljetku, ipak je to znanstveno pitanje.
05:03
And this was a very, very dangerousopasno thing to do
116
288000
2000
A filozofiranje je opasna igra

305000
2000
Ali najbolje od svega bilo je to --
05:22
FeynmanFeynman had to leavenapustiti a little earlyrano.
123

A Sydney i ja smo ostali s filozofima.
05:30
And the amazingnevjerojatan thing is these guys were flyingleteći.

A najbolja od svega bila je reakcija filozofa.

I realizedshvatio there was something just extraordinaryizvanredan about FeynmanFeynman,
133
333000
3000
Shvatio sam kako se u Feynmanu krije nešto nevjerojatno,
05:51
even when he did what he did.
134
336000
3000
čak i kada je činio ono što je činio.
05:58
DickKurac, he was my friendprijatelj. I did call him DickKurac.
135
343000
3000
Dick je bio moj prijatelj. Zvao sam ga Dick.
06:01
DickKurac and I had a certainsiguran, a little bitbit of a rapportodnos.
136

Dick i ja smo se slagali.
06:03
I think it maysvibanj have been a specialposeban rapportodnos that he and I had.
137
348000
3000
Mislim da smo imali jedan poseban odnos - on i ja.
06:06
We likedvolio eachsvaki other; we likedvolio the sameisti kindljubazan of things.

06:09
I alsotakođer likedvolio the kindljubazan of intellectualintelektualac machomacho gamesigre.
139

I meni su se sviđale intelektualne muževne (macho) igrice.
06:13
SometimesPonekad I would winpobijediti, mostlyuglavnom he would winpobijediti,

Ponekad bih pobijedio, ali je većinom on pobjeđivao,
06:15
but we bothoba enjoyeduživao them.
141

ali oboje smo uživali.
06:17
And DickKurac becamepostao convinceduvjeren at some pointtočka
142
362000
2000
U jednom je trenutku Dick postao uvjeren
06:19
that he and I had some kindljubazan of similaritysličnost of personalityosoba.
143

06:23
I don't think he was right.
144

06:25
I think the only pointtočka of similaritysličnost betweenizmeđu us

06:30
But he was convinceduvjeren of this.
147
375000

No, on je bio uvjeren.
06:32
And he was curiousznatiželjan.

06:34
The man was incrediblynevjerojatno curiousznatiželjan.
149

06:36
And he wanted to understandrazumjeti what it was and why it was

Budući da pričamo o Dicku, on je naravno htio sve to provjeriti.
08:09
He wanted to go out and do an experimenteksperiment.
185

Htio je napraviti istraživanje.
08:11

Ne znam. Možda. Tko zna?
08:49
But let me tell you a little bitbit
201
514000
2000
Ali, dopustite da vam ispričam ponešto
08:51
about FeynmanFeynman the physicistfizičar.
202
516000
3000
i o Feynmanu fizičaru.
08:55
Feynman'sFeynman je stylestil --
203
520000
2000
Feynmanov stil --
08:57
no, stylestil is not the right wordriječ.
204
522000
2000
ne, stil nije prava riječ.
08:59
StyleStil makesmarke you think of the bownakloniti se tiekravata he mightmoć have wornnosi

206
526000
2000
ili na odjelo koje je nosio.
09:03
There's something much deeperdublje than that,
207
528000
2000
Postoji nešto mnogo dublje od toga,
09:05
but I can't think of anotherjoš wordriječ for it.
208
530000
2000
ali se ne mogu sjetiti neke prikladnije riječi.
09:07
Feynman'sFeynman je scientificznanstvena stylestil
209
532000
3000
Feynmanov znanstveni stil
09:10
was always to look for the simplestnajjednostavniji,

212
542000
3000
Ako to nije bilo moguće, morao bi smisliti nešto kompliciranije.
09:20
But no doubtsumnjati partdio of this
213
545000
3000
Ali neupitno mu je dio ovoga
09:23
was his great joyradost and pleasurezadovoljstvo
214
548000
3000
predstavljalo veliko zadovoljstvo
09:26
in showingpokazivanje people that he could think more simplyjednostavno than they could.
215
551000
4000
kako bi pokazao ljudima da može misliti jednostavnije od njih.
09:30
But he alsotakođer deeplyduboko believedvjerovao, he trulyuistinu believedvjerovao,
216
555000
3000
Ali je isto tako duboko vjerovao, bio istinski uvjeren,
09:33
that if you couldn'tne mogu explainobjasniti something simplyjednostavno
217
558000
2000
da ako nisi u stanju nešto objasniti jednostavno
09:35
you didn't understandrazumjeti it.
218
560000
3000
onda to nisi ni shvatio.
09:38
In the 1950s, people were tryingtežak to figurelik out
219
563000
3000
1950-ih ljudi su pokušavali shvatiti

09:43
There was a theoryteorija.
221
568000
2000
Postojala je teorija.
09:45
It was dueuslijed to a Russianruski mathematicalmatematički physicistfizičar,
222
570000
2000
Osmišljena zahvaljujući ruskom matematičkom fizičaru,
09:47
and it was a complicatedsložen theoryteorija.
223
572000
2000
i bila je to komplicirana teorija.
09:49
I'll tell you what that theoryteorija was soonuskoro enoughdovoljno.
224
574000
2000
Ubrzo ću vam ispričati nešto o toj teoriji.
09:51
It was a terriblyužasno complicatedsložen theoryteorija
225
576000
2000
Bila je to užasno komplicirana teorija
09:53
fullpuni of very difficulttežak integralsintegrala and formulasformule

09:58
And it sortvrsta of workedradio, but it didn't work very well.
228
583000
3000
I nekako je funkcionirala, ali ne baš dobro.
10:01
The only way it workedradio
229
586000
2000
Ispravna je bila jedino u slučaju
10:03
is when the heliumHelij atomsatomi were very, very fardaleko apartosim.
230
588000
3000
kada su atomi helija bili međusobno vrlo, vrlo udaljeni.
10:06
The heliumHelij atomsatomi had to be very fardaleko apartosim.
231
591000
2000
Atomi helija morali su biti vrlo udaljeni.
10:08
And unfortunatelynažalost, the heliumHelij atomsatomi in liquidtekući heliumHelij
232
593000
2000
A nažalost, atomi helija u tekućem heliju
10:10
are right on topvrh of eachsvaki other.
233
595000
2000
naslagani su jedan na drugi.
10:12
FeynmanFeynman decidedodlučio, as a sortvrsta of amateuramater heliumHelij physicistfizičar,
234
597000
3000
Feynman je odlučio, kao amaterski fizičar helija,
10:15
that he would try to figurelik it out.
235
600000
3000
kako će pokušati shvatiti o čemu je zapravo riječ.
10:18
He had an ideaideja, a very clearčisto ideaideja.
236
603000
2000
Imao je vrlo jasnu ideju.
10:20
He would try to figurelik out
237
605000
2000
Pokušao je shvatiti
10:22
what the quantumkvantni waveval functionfunkcija
238
607000
2000
kako bi izgledala funkcija kvantnog vala
10:24
of this hugeogroman numberbroj of atomsatomi lookedgledao like.
239
609000
2000
tog velikog broja atoma.
10:26
He would try to visualizevizualizirati it,
240
611000
2000
Pokušao si je to vizualizirati,
10:28
guidedvođena by a smallmali numberbroj of simplejednostavan principlesprincipi.
241
613000
3000
pritom se koristeći jednostavnim principima.
10:31
The smallmali numberbroj of simplejednostavan principlesprincipi were very, very simplejednostavan.
242
616000
3000
Par jednostavnih principa bili su vrlo, vrlo jednostavni.
10:34
The first one was
243
619000
2000
Prvi je glasio:
10:36
that when heliumHelij atomsatomi touchdodir eachsvaki other, they repelotjerati.
244
621000
3000
kada se atomi helija dodirnu međusobno se odbijaju.
10:39
The implicationimplikacija of that is that the waveval functionfunkcija has to go to zeronula,
245
624000
3000
Kao posljedica toga valna funkcija mora težiti nuli,
10:42
it has to vanishnestati when the heliumHelij atomsatomi touchdodir eachsvaki other.
246
627000
3000
mora nestati kada se atomi helija dodirnu.
10:45
The other factčinjenica
247
630000
2000
Druga činjenica je ta
10:47
is that the groundtlo statedržava, the lowestnajniža energyenergija statedržava of a quantumkvantni systemsistem,
248
632000
3000
da primarno stanje, najniža energija kvantnog sistema,
10:50
the waveval functionfunkcija is always very smoothglatko, nesmetano --
249
635000

-- a funkcija vala je uvijek mirna --
10:54
has the minimumminimum numberbroj of wigglesWiggles.
250
639000

10:56
So he satsat down --
251
641000
2000
I tako je sjeo za stol --
10:58
and I imaginezamisliti he had nothing more
252
643000
2000
mislim kako i nije imao ništa više
11:00
than a simplejednostavan piecekomad of paperpapir and a pencilolovka --
253
645000
2000
od običnog papira i olovke --
11:02
and he triedpokušala to writepisati down, and did writepisati down,
254
647000
2000
pokušao zapisati, i zapisao,

11:07
whichkoji had the boundarygranica conditionsUvjeti
256
652000
2000

11:09
that the waveval functionfunkcija vanishnestati when things touchdodir
257
654000
2000
zbog kojih bi valna funkcija nestala kada se stvari dodirnu
11:11
and is smoothglatko, nesmetano in betweenizmeđu.
258
656000
2000
i koja nema titraja između.
11:13
He wrotenapisao down a simplejednostavan thing.
259
658000
2000
Zapisao je vrlo jednostavnu stvar.
11:15
It was so simplejednostavan, in factčinjenica,
260
660000
2000
Zapravo je bila toliko jednostavna
11:17
that I suspectsumnjiv a really smartpametan highvisok schoolškola studentstudent,
261
662000
2000
da bi ju i jedan pametni srednjoškolac,
11:19

11:24
The thing was that that simplejednostavan thing that he wrotenapisao down

And the way to analyzeanalizirati it was, of coursenaravno, FeynmanFeynman diagramsdijagrami.
282
715000
3000
A analizirali su se, naravno, Feynmanovim dijagramima.
12:13
That's what FeynmanFeynman diagramsdijagrami were constructedkonstruiran for --

Zato su Feynmanovi dijagrami bili i osmišljeni --

Eksperimenti koji su se izvodili bili su vrlo jednostavni.
12:20
You simplyjednostavno take the protonproton,

Ovome su i služili Feynmanovi dijagrami.
12:27
The only problemproblem
289
732000

Jedini je problem bila činjenica
12:29
was that FeynmanFeynman diagramsdijagrami are complicatedsložen.
290
734000

da su Feynmanovi dijagrami komplicirani.

12:36
But you couldn'tne mogu; they were just too complicatedsložen.
293
741000
3000
Ali to je bilo gotovo nemoguće; jednostavno su bili previše komplicirani.
12:39
People were tryingtežak to do them.
294

2000
Ali ljudi su ih pokušavali rješiti.
