2000
Te gjithe, ju lutem mendoni
00:17
of your biggest personal goal.
1
2000
3000
njeren nga qellimet tuaja personale.
00:20
For real -- you can take a second. You've got to feel this to learn it.
2
5000
3000
Ne te vertete- merreni nje sekond. Duhet ta ndjeni qe te mesoni.
00:23
Take a few seconds and think of your personal biggest goal, okay?
3
8000
3000
00:26
Imagine deciding right now
4
11000
2000
Imagjoni se keni vendosur
00:28
that you're going to do it.
5
13000
2000
se do e beni ate.
00:30
Imagine telling someone that you meet today what you're going to do.
6
15000
3000
Imagjino sikur do i tregosh dikujt qe takove sot se qfare do te besh.
00:33
Imagine their congratulations
7
18000
2000
Imagjino urimet e tyre
00:35
and their high image of you.
8
20000
2000
dhe mendimin e larte per ty.
00:37
Doesn't it feel good to say it out loud?
9
22000
2000
A nuk ju ben te ndjeheni mire kur ta thuash me ze te larte?
00:39
Don't you feel one step closer already,
10
24000
3000
A nuk ndjeheni nje hap prane synimit tuaj,
00:42
like it's already becoming part of your identity?
11
27000
3000
sikur ka filluar te behet pjese e identitetit tuaj?
00:45
Well, bad news: you should have kept your mouth shut,
12
30000
3000
E pra, nje lajm i keq: duhej ta kishe mbyllur gojen,
00:48
because that good feeling
13
33000
2000
sepse ajo ndjenje e mire
00:50
now will make you less likely to do it.
14
35000
3000
tani ju jep me pak gjasa per ta arritur ate.
00:53
Repeated psychology tests have proven
15
38000
2000
Teste te nje pasnjeshme psikologjike kan treguar
00:55
that telling someone your goal
16
40000
2000
qe ti tregosh dikujt per qellimin tend
00:57
makes it less likely to happen.
17
42000
2000
e ben me pak te rendeshishme qe te ndodh.
00:59
Any time you have a goal,
18
44000
2000
Qdo here ke nje qellim,
01:01
there are some steps that need to be done, some work that needs to be done
19
46000
2000
jane disa hapa qe duhen bere, dhe nje pune qe duhet bere gjithashtu
01:03
in order to achieve it.
20
48000
2000
ne menyre qe te arrihet ky qellim.
01:05
Ideally, you would not be satisfied until you had actually done the work.
21
50000
3000
Idealisht, nuk do ishe i kenaqur deri sa ta kesh bere punen.
01:08
But when you tell someone your goal and they acknowledge it,
22
53000
3000
01:11
psychologists have found that it's called a "social reality."
23
56000
3000
psikologet kane konstatuar se thirret ''realiteti social''
01:14
The mind is kind of tricked into feeling that it's already done.
24
59000
3000
Ne nje fare menyre mendja mashtrohet me ndjenjen se tashme e keni bere.
01:17
And then, because you felt that satisfaction,
25
62000
2000
Dhe pastaj, ti e ndjen vete kenaqesin
01:19
you're less motivated to do
26
64000
2000
ndjeheni me pak te motivuar per ta bere
01:21
the actual hard work necessary. (Laughter)
27
66000
3000
punen e veshtire akutale.
01:24
So this goes against the conventional wisdom
28
69000
2000
Pra, kjo bie ndesh me ate qe besojme
01:26
that we should tell our friends our goals, right --
29
71000
2000
qe ne duhet tu tregojm shokeve tone qellimet tona, apo jo...
01:28
so they hold us to it.
30
73000
3000
dhe keshtu ata na mbajne me kete.
01:31
So, let's look at the proof.
31
76000
2000
Pra, le te shikojm kete fakt.
01:33
1926, Kurt Lewin, founder of social psychology,
32
78000
2000
1926, Kurt Lewin, themelues i psikologjise sociale,
01:35
called this "substitution."
33
80000
2000
e titulluar ''zevendesimi.''
01:37
1933, Vera Mahler found,
34
82000
2000
1933, Vera Mahler mbeshteti
01:39
when it was acknowledged by others, it felt real in the mind.
35
84000
3000
01:42
1982, Peter Gollwitzer wrote a whole book about this
36
87000
3000
01:45
and in 2009,
37
90000
2000
dhe ne 2009,
01:47
he did some new tests that were published.
38
92000
2000
ai beri disa analiza te reja qe u botuan.
01:49
It goes like this:
39
94000
2000
Fillon si kjo :
01:51
163 people across four separate tests --
40
96000
3000
163 njerez rreth kater teste te ndara-
01:54
everyone wrote down their personal goal.
41
99000
3000
cdo njeri shkroi qellimet e tyre personale.
01:57
Then half of them announced their commitment to this goal to the room,
42
102000
3000
Gjysma e tyre u tregoi se cili ishte qellimi i tyre,
02:00
and half didn't.
43
105000
2000
dhe gjysma jo
02:02
Then everyone was given 45 minutes of work
44
107000
2000
Pastaj, cdo njerit iu dhane nga 45 minuta per te punuar
02:04
that would directly lead them towards their goal,
45
109000
3000
gje qe do i shpinte ata drejt qellimit te tyre,
02:07
but they were told that they could stop at any time.
46
112000
2000
02:09
Now, those who kept their mouths shut
47
114000
2000
Tani, ata qe heshten
02:11
worked the entire 45 minutes, on average,
48
116000
3000
punuan gjate gjithe 45 minutave
02:14
and when asked afterwards,
49
119000
2000
dhe kur më pas u pyetën,
02:16
said that they felt that they had a long way to go still to achieve their goal.
50
121000
3000
thane qe ata ndjenin nje rruge te gjate per te arritur qellimin.
02:19
But those who had announced it
51
124000
2000
Por ata qe lajmeruan kete
02:21
quit after only 33 minutes, on average,
52
126000
3000
hoqen dore vetem pas 33 minutave,
02:24
and when asked afterwards,
53
129000
2000
dhe kur u pyeten me pas,
02:26
said that they felt much closer to achieving their goal.
54
131000
2000
02:28
So, if this is true,
55
133000
2000
Pra, nese kjo do ishte e vertet,
02:30
what can we do?
56
135000
2000
cfare mund te bejme?
02:32
Well, you could resist the temptation
57
137000
2000
Ju mund t'i rezistoni tundimit
02:34
to announce your goal.
58
139000
2000
për t’i treguar synimet tuaja.
02:36
You can delay the gratification
59
141000
2000
Mund ta vononi kënaqësinë
02:38
that the social acknowledgement brings,
60
143000
2000
që ju sjell miratimi nga të tjerët.
02:40
and you can understand that your mind
61
145000
2000
Dhe ju mund ta kuptoni se mendja
02:42
mistakes the talking for the doing.
62
147000
3000
gabon mes të folurit dhe të vepruarit.
02:45
But if you do need to talk about something,
63
150000
2000
02:47
you can state it in a way
64
152000
2000
atëherë duhet ta thoni në një mënyrë
02:49
that gives you no satisfaction,
65
154000
2000
që nuk u jep asnjë kënaqësi,
02:51
such as, "I really want to run this marathon,
66
156000
2000
02:53
so I need to train five times a week
67
158000
2000
prandaj duhet trajnuar pesë herë në javë,
02:55
and kick my ass if I don't, okay?"
68
160000
3000
02:58
So audience, next time you're tempted to tell someone your goal,
69
163000
3000
Pra, herën tjetër kur tundoheni t’i tregoni dikujt për synimet tuaja,
03:01
what will you say? (Silence)
70
166000
2000
çfarë do të thoni?
03:03
Exactly, well done.
71
168000
3000
Ashtu. Shumë mirë.
03:06
(Applause)
72
171000
4000
(Duartrokitje)
